Between now and the beginning of 2011 when either Andrew Cuomo or Carl Paladino assumes the state’s top job, Nevins will be in training for the detail, said State Police spokesman Tech. Lt. Glen Miner.

Acting State Police Superintendent John Melville said Nevins is a “stand up career guy with the ability and focus to accomplish the mission of protecting the governor and his family.  I have total faith and confidence in his leadership abilities, intelligence, and common sense.”

Melville and Nevins have known each other for years as Melville was Troop F commander in the past.

This commander should find his new position a breeze. After dealing with the meshugas in KY, anything else will be a refreshing change.
