Brooklyn, NY - Carl Paladino is making a return trip to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, this afternoon to meet with Orthodox Jewish rabbis.

Our source didn’t have details on where or with whom the GOP candidate for governor is meeting, and Paladino campaign manager Michael Caputo was typically opaque.

“Sorry, no media circus today,” he told us in an e-mail.

Paladino’s last trip to Williamsburg famously ended with his speech about how children shouldn’t be “brainwashed” into thinking being gay is “an acceptable option.” Two days later he apologized for the remarks, which Caputo said he should have stricken from the speech, which was written by his host rabbi Yehuda Levin. Levin then rescinded his endorsement of Paladino.

Sources tell VIN News that Paladino will be meeting Askunim at 4:00pm at 11 Harrison Ave. In Williamsburg.

On which Rabunim will he blast this time?

Go figure!

I don't think he was the one that blasted the rabbis - it was the speech writer

Whatever the case is I hope that whoever he blasts today it shall not involve anything with rabbonim or askunim.
Under the current situation in general there is no need for us to be in the spotlight. period. Then we will not need to worry about the promise of Coumo, Shmuley Boteach's issue ad also not Rabbi Katz's open letter and the whole roller coaster with Rabbi Levin, the OU and the avalanche has not even stopped yet.

Maybe he's gained some knowledge of the community since his unfortunate meeting with Rabbi Levin and will make no errors this time.

For the record;

The meeting today with Carl Paladino was to ask the candidate running for the highest office in NY State his position on issues that were not raised in his previous visit to Williamsburg, because it was sabotaged with an outsider drafting him a memo of what to read, and it was only about issues below the belt (not that we disagree)
and this meeting was about all issues that concern the resident of NY and Williamsburg above the belt.

This meeting was also not a photo-up of what you have seen lately that every Moe Dick and Larry sits down with a Rabbi and the candidate, someone takes a photo and now it states "Candidate meets with Rabbi's" WOW, the Rabbi doesn't care if he pro gay or pro abortion as long as there is a nice photo and his leaders told him to meet, BINGO, now you can show the entire community that you have a photo with this and this political person.

The problem is, if we have so many leaders with so many photo's, why are we in Williamsburg so far behind in all services and actual voters, because they all care about the PHOTO.

This meeting with Paladino there was no press allowed, the people were not "Rabbinical Leaders" they were lay leaders concerned about the issues that concern every family living in Williamsburg, Administrator's of school's and Yeshiva's people who work in social service and see the needs of the community without fanfare or thank you pages in the newspaper's while getting big salaries from the taxpayer.

Each and every candidate should be giver the opportunity to field questions from the people at a diner or in house, Coumo wasn't asked and his only claim to fame was that "My father was very good to the community, and the community was very good to my father" no question's asked so now these leaders release the tape of the meeting and advise you to vote for this candidate-this is CRAZY.

Some people think that we in Williamsburg are really so crazy, not that I'm endorsing Paladino, just the fact that Some people wonder "who are these Rabbi's that Paladino met?" haven't you noticed in these many years that everyone with a black hat and black jacket is a Rabbi, they were never ordained, don't have a shul, never got semicha. and the photo yells "Rabbi".

Conclusion: Paladino met with lay leaders of Williamsburg who walk the streets have large families struggle to survive and raise a family, can you show me one Rabbi with these problems.

Did he discuss the severe cuts he wants to make to the Medical Assistance (Medicaid) program which would severly effect the residents of Williamburg?

He started with Levine, now Abraham, Wercberger, Mr. Paladino; before you walk into a community find out the details first!!
These people are just making sure to make you loose every potential vote in the community!!

After today's meetings in Williamsburg I can tell you that Carl Paladino is a real mentch. He answered all our community's concerns in the proper manner. Our frum community and Paladino are on the same page. He didn't try to hide any of his positions and then offer us "grants & subsidies" like the other guy did. He was straight forward Carl Paladino. He tells it like it is and we are satisfied with that!

I will work hard to educate other community members to support and vote for Carl Paladino for Governor of New York.

I noticed Mr. Isaac Abraham at the meeting. That's a good first step, giving Carl Paladino a chance to meet with regular ( as in normal) people. Hopefully, he has learned to stay away from kooks like Rabbi Levine. Another lesson to be learned is that all speeches are to be reviewed and rehearsed before being rendered. Now, that there is still some time before the election, Mr. Carl Paladino should resume his campaign in BP and Flatbush, outlining his plan of action in a Positive way, rather than merely knocking Andrew Cuomo and calling everybody names.

What did he say about his plans to gut Medicaid and slash social services? This will devastate poor Jewish communities and poor non-Jewish communities.

Paladino will not "slash" & "gut" anything. Those terms are usually used as fear tactics by liberals who really can't explain why they're spending more than they need to spend for the same programs that cost so much less in the private sector.

I guess when you're a liberal and you're beholden to the unions then they have to get their (un)fair share too!

The wealthy in our community will need to step up. Thats how it is supposed to be lets take care of each other and we wont need government help.
Also all these "poor" people wearing expensive cloths and bugaboo strollers will have to tighten their belts, and the genuinely poor? We as a community need to step up and help. Create job training programs and the like so they can go out and get jobs, or become entrepreneurs, this is the best economy to do it in, if you do it right!
Relying on government help is no the answer! All it does is make people lazy!! By making incentives for businesses to hire, that will help everyone! It is OK to learn half a day and work a bit to feed your kids. Look at the gedolim, they were not all supported simply by the community? Rambam was a Dr., There were others who were merchants, blacksmiths ect

" The wealthy in our community will need to step up"

I think that the wealthy are getting a little of weary of continually being responsible for the have-nots of the community. There is a limit to the amount of tzedakeh that most people can provide, no matter which tax bracket they are in. With so many of the frum not wishing to do anything but study, eventually what is left of the wealthier members of the community will have gutted bank accounts. Why should they continue to have to pay and pay and pay strictly by virtue of the fact that they chose to be industrious and ultimately, successful? Are they not entitled to have something left over to leave to their children??

I, not considering myself part of any catagory you have mentioned, am quite a typical resident too! Just trying to lead a Kosher and Jewish life, including only kosher l'mehadrin food (quite expensive compared to non kosher) making yom tov and shabbos with basar v'dagim v'chol matamim, and giving maaser... and everything else included in a religous and jewish life! My husband works full time (if not more than that) I don't push a bugaboo stroller, wear expensive jewelry or a fur coat, no expensive clothing for every season, no lexus... AND WITH ALL THAT: We still try HARD to make ends meet!

Please understand that our lifestyle without shopping at high end stores is way more costly than any other American resident, and don't be your own brother's enemy!

The biggest problem is with the middle income sector which a huge portion of our peers are if you take away all thes things.

If you make 40 k per year for a family with 4 children you get mediacaid, FS, S8 which has a total worth of app. 18 k in rental assistance, no insurance cost, and an additional 10-12 K in FS and in addition to school vouchers so tuition is slashed with another 75-100%.

So you pay for clothing a bit, general bills, earned income tax credit of a few thousand so you save bet. 5-10 k a year.

Now, the other guy makes 50 k a year, disqulaified for FS witha cost of at least 1,000 a month (if not bet. 2,000-2,500) no medicaid so now you have to pay an additional 2,000 per month for a family policy, can't get S8 either so you lose another 15-20 k in rental / mortgage expense.
so you spend for medical insurance 20K another 20K for food, 10 k for tuition and there you go.

Why should any sane person even WANT to go to work if he loses his pants and has to borrow from credit cards ? when you a simcha ? you have to factor in taxes as well and this is for basic non luxury no vacation expenses ?
