The 54-year-old father, was the beneficiary of a life insurance policy for the intended victim and had been making payments for several years, according to court papers filed yesterday in Brooklyn Federal Court.

“I’m tired of paying,” he told an informant who was secretly taping the conversation for the FBI.

Assistant U.S. Attorney said the defendant had been the target of a $12 million mortgage fraud when investigators recently learned of the murder-for-hire scheme from the informant.

The informant, wearing a hidden wire, taped several conversations this month discussing how to get rid of the man, identified in court papers only as Joey.

He said a man he knew had offered to kill Joey for money. “[H]e tells me, ‘Give me $500 and I’ll leave him in the basement’…. He choke him,” according to the complaint.

Later he mentioned that Joey used sleeping pills and suggested a different plan of attack. “When you want to bring him for coffee, you tell me and I give [sleeping pills] to you,” he said. “Insurance not going to do nothing. He took his own tablet.”

The complaint said that he offered to pay the informant for putting the sleeping pills in the victim’s coffee.

He is an Israeli citizen who has lived in Brooklyn for 25 years, was ordered held without bail and has not yet been charged in the mortgage fraud scheme.

There is a big difference between thinking and talking about doing something and actually doing it. Nowhere in this article does it say that he actually paid anything to the informant. Usually the police need some sort of law breaking action to arrest you on-not just talk. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, there is obviously a lot more to the story.

Number one, you are the type that says no Hasidic can do wrong. Lets hope one doesn’t do something bad to you.

Was this the FBI action on Coney Island Avenue yesterday?

You would think that anyone plotting such a crime would do it himself. Time and time again you hear that the hired hit person was an informer. I wonder how many crimes these informers committ.

    Joey, Joey,
I am being you Dan L’Kaf Zechus. I think it’s something this informant pulled out of you after you whined about making these large payments towards the life insurance. And then he mentioned that it would be a good idea to whack him, so you mentioned the idea of the sleeping pills. And you joked about paying him to do the job. And that’s when they got you.
I hope your crime is even less that how I described it.

I dont think he is a chasidik guy! A chasidic guy would never pay someone 500 bucks just to drop in a few pills in a coffee….

but seriously, this is scary’ even if he just joked about it.

yes he can be charged with conspiracy. Attempt will be harder to prove

So some people say “It couldn’t have happened.”

Others say “An attempted murder for hire isn’t so bad. It didn’t actually succeed.”

And most of the rest run right into the “No True Scotsman” fallacy. (“No Scotsman puts sugar on his oatmeal.” “Angus is Scottish, and he sweetens his porridge.” “Well, no TRUE Scotsman would.”)

Reading rabbinical opinions in Aramaic doesn’t automatically make you a better person. It just means you’ve read a bunch of words. People who were sent to yeshiva as kids can be just as evil as anyone else. If he did it he’s a source of shame to Jews everywhere, simple as that.

Why does the number of kids he has mean anything? It’s not relevant to the case.

What Pilpel did to the mesis umadiach was maaseh Pinchas – he poisoned a Zimri (assuming Stanislawski’s account is correct – he was my professor at Columbia and though I liked him personally I found both his lectures and the book he wrote quite shallow, and I took his courses mainly for an easy A).

Not something everyone can or should do but if it happened, Avrohom Ber Pilpel is enjoying his reward alongside Pinchas haCohen in Gan Eden.

This menivel is a sociopath like Kayin. He will end up tiff, tiff in der erd.

Our rotten life-style is killing us, morally & physically.

This is all the product of of society that is crippling all of us. Only ONE person took it ONE step further.

Most of us live with stealing and robbery, ill-gotten money !

I’m 100% sure this Hasidic guy is a good person ! It the life-style that is killing us!

The article says that the accused is an Israeli citizen. If he is convicted, he will likely be deported after he serves his sentence. At least that is what would happen if this case had occurred in Canada.

YOU CANNOT KILL SOMEONE WITH SLEEPING PILLS!!!!!!!!! this doesn’t make any sense, the guy would probable feel sick call an ambulance and at the hospital they pump the stomach, this story doesn’t make sense I wouldn’t be surprised if the story turns out to be different, sounds like someone was trying to set him up.

this story doesn’t make sense… the worst that would happen from an overdose of sleeping pills is the person would feel sick and go to the hospital were they would pump his stomach….

    is this English?

“[H]e tells me, ‘Give me $500 and I’ll leave him in the basement’…. He choke him,”

“you tell me and I give [sleeping pills] to you,” he said. “Insurance not going to do nothing. He took his own tablet.”

my guess would be that the target might of had some dirt on the guy concerning the financial fraud case. There is more to the story i am sure. maybe they where secret lovers.

The reason why 7 kids matter, is because that could be an incentive or motive for murder to get money.

The comment about the lifestyle has validity, as people want to keep up with the Jones es they will do what needs to be done fraud, scams, welfare, food stamps etc. But that is only the tips of the iceberg, the real problem is that no one , no robbonum seems to have the guts to condemn it. ,

Not everyone that is dressed as a yid is a kosher yid. Yiden have 3 simanim, rachmanim , byshanim , & gomlay casadim. If any yid is missing 1 of them, there maybe some psill in him. I hope the story turns out not true.

He would never kill a person I know him from when he has a store in boro park
He is a nice soft person
But he might be a big talker as ussaul and might be a great candidate to let a fbi agent talk with him big
But I am 100 percent he would never go to step two and hurt a person

To Mendele #63 : He might very well appear to you and others to be a nice guy. However, since he was stupid enough to tell this to the fbi he will surely pay the price.
