Dancing the Hora today at the Menorah Lighting. It was my 7th Menorah Lighting, and I always love it, he tweeted.
According to reports, the event was sponsored by the Sacramento chapter of a national Hasidic organization and attended by rabbis from around the state.
Why were they lighting today?

and yesterday an article announcing chabad lightings around the world VIN used the term “A Jewish outreach organization” and only later in the article did it say the events were “SPONSERED” by chabad

Guys, you ask why the early lighting. Simple it is chukos hagoyim. You know how they keep statring the xmas selling earlier and earlier each year. They do it to make more money. Draw your own conclusions.

What is the big tsimis that a few of you have made, pertaining to the photo of a large tree in the background? The tree (which had previously been placed in the general area)had absolutely nothing to do with the Chanukah celebration, which the Governor attended. We should be very grateful that Governor Schwarzenegger attended; of all of the 50 states, besides California, only New York and New Jersey’s Governors have ever attended the lighting of the Menorah, on their respective state capital grounds. In my home state, when the local Chabad tried to light a Menorah at the state capital grounds years ago, there was a lot of opposition, mainly from Yidden!
