Iran – Anger after Google Earth reveals Star of David on Roof of Iran Air HQ

    29

This satellite image of the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran, also known as Iran Air, was taken by Google Earth and reveals a Star of David symbol. (Google Earth)Iran – Ahmadinejad and his anti-semitic cronies are fuming with anger after discovering the Star of David on the roof of Iran Air headquarters at Teheran’s airport. The building was originally built by Israeli engineers prior to the Islamic Revolution.

Nobody noticed the Jewish symbol until someone found it up in Google Earth. The building – which hosts their national airline – was built by Israeli engineers before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and it has been hidden in plain sight until today.

Did Israeli prankster architects sneak the Star of David onto the roof of the Teheran airport, or is the controversy in Iran over a Google Earth revelation much ado about nothing?

Regardless of whether it was happenstance or an act of architectural subterfuge, government officials in Iran were incensed this week when they discovered the outline of a Star of David.

The six-pointed star was discovered by an eagle-eyed Google Earth user, over three decades after the building that houses the national airline of the Islamic Republic was constructed by Israeli engineers.

Israel and the Shah’s Iran maintained good ties until the Islamic Revolution of 1979 ended the relationship. Before 1979, Israel brokered arms deals with Iran, and there were regular flights between Teheran and Tel Aviv.

Once the existence of the Star of David was reported in Iranian media, government officials called for the immediate removal of the apparently offensive Jewish symbol.

The discovery of the symbol came three months after the Iranian public learned of the existence of a Star of David on the roof of a building in Teheran’s Revolution Square.

I think a tzemel is what some Yiddish speakers call what I call a bulka – a bread roll.

It appears to me as though it would make a fine target, if and when the right time comes. The regime in Iran has claimed that their issues are not with Jews but with Israel as a state…then why all the fuss over this Jewish star? I’m sure most readers of VIN would agree that if this is upsetting the Iranians…too bad!!!!

No, no, no. You’ve all got it wrong. The six-pointed star marks the Grand Lodge of Freemasons in Iran.

    Raboisei,

What are you all talking about?
First of all, the six sided star isn’t necessarily a “Jewish” sign at all, it’s very ancient and is found in Islam and other ancient symbolism.
Second of all, the Iranians have a long standing relationship with Jews in Persia and do not harass them. Even if this was a ‘Jewish’ thing, it wouldn’t change the fact that Judaism is not the same as “the Zionist entity”, as they call it.
Third of all, who cares? they don’t see it anyway! No one goes up to the roof, and no one is staring at Google earth’s picture all day!

This star of David looks like a recent marking. That is precisely the reason it has the Iranian Security forces in a tizzy. Someone. (They’re trying to catch that someone.) marked it up not long ago.

Wait a minute. This is at their airport? With regular flights overhead? And nobody noticed it for 30 years? Are their pilots and passengers forced tro wear blinfolds? Or could it be that they don’t know what the star of david is? Just that they hate it. Beautiful. It is really beautiful. Kol Hakavood to Israeli architechts.
