New York - The lawyer for Bernard Madoff (MAY’-dawf) says the imprisoned Wall Street financier won’t attend his son’s funeral.

Attorney Ira Sorkin says Madoff has decided not to attend the funeral for Mark Madoff out of consideration for his daughter-in-law’s and grandchildren’s privacy.

The lawyer said Monday the 72-year-old Madoff will conduct a private service at the North Carolina prison where he’s serving a 150-year term.

Mark Madoff hanged himself on Saturday in his New York City apartment. The 46-year-old older son of Madoff killed himself two years after his father was arrested for cheating thousands of investors of billions of dollars in a Ponzi scheme.

Is Ambit Energy also a Ponzi scheme? All young people are talking about it. It smells of a Ponzi scheme because it works like a network that one person brings 15 people and then 15 people bring in another 15. It’s the same joke of Jewelwell? Remember Jewelwell happened in 1996; each new generation gets trapped in its own unique Ponzi scheme.

What does this have to do with the levayah arrangements; the niftar is not even buried and you are rambling with some new ponzi scheme. Show some midos and take your nareshkeit elsewhere.

I doubt he or his family is interested in his attendance, if not for his misdeeds there wouldn't be a funeral...

Rhetorical question:
Why is it that the Lockerbie bomber who blew up a plane and directly killed 271 people is a free man on "compassionate grounds" (my tuchus) - why don't the libs have compassion for Madoff?
I'm not arguing that they should let him out for the funeral - jail is jail - but where is the liberal outrage for compassion?

Bernie would not even want to attend his son's funereal, he can't face his wife, his family and friends, if he where out of prison he would also commit suicide, that's why its a waste of taxpayer money to keep him in prison, let them release him we will perish very soon, he has no money, no family, no friends.

Any activity that requires you to go out and recruit a set number of new members, who then have to go out and recruit new members, is either a ponzi scheme or a cult.

You said it right! your question is empty rhetoric. Try to focus. Try... for once try.

How do you know that you are saving? Every electricity bill is cheaper after the summer months. What is the charge per KWH of your bill compared to Con Edison’s charge per KWH during the winter months?
By the way the Ponzi scheme in 1996 was called JewelWay not Jewelwell.

what you are describing is not a ponzi scheme. It sounds like a pyramid scheme which has nothing to do with a Ponzi scheme or Madoff.

Why liberal? A Scottish court allowed him out for business reasons (sounds like your friendly conservative no)? To cover themselves they said that the bomber was dying and would be dead within a year. Business interests (read oil) were thrilled with this allegedly compassionate release Why would liberals have compassion for either?
Fools try to make political hay out of tragedy. Those of us who think realize there is not place for compassion on the bomber nor Bernie.
Liberal v. conservative is not the answer for everything.

Better idea
Bring his son's Oron to the prison to let him say kaddish and have the inmates be menachem ovel him and even sit shiva at least for a day.

What we should be asking is how is it his ganaveh on such a monumental scale gets only 150 years and a rubashkin who stole from noone gets 27 years, one sixth of Madoffs term who stole Billions.

Idiot, you think it's a joke that someone died such an unnecessary death? and, for the record, a fellow Jew?

You are a disrespectful piece of garbage, and please, change your Ename, it would be even more disgraceful if anyone reading VIN actually thought you had anything to do with lamdus.

Again, you're an incredible and insensitive piece of human garbage.

why should we be asking that? And where did you get the idea that he stole from no one?

What you should be asking yourself is how can you steal from no one? and how can you do that, be charged, and be found guilty if you really stole from no one?

I suggest that your premise is very obviously faulty, as everyone but you seems to know.

Too bad, you actually started off with a decent comment, and after the first sentence, completely downhill.

He doesn't.

Read the story again - and stop being so callous and prejudiced.

All people are holy & created in the image of G-d that includes Bernie Madoff & his entire family. We all have yetzer harah and Madoff made a mistake and hes paying for it by spending the rest of his life in prison, so its enough of the Bernie bashing. Many of Madoff clients had millions of dollars yet they werent happy with what they had & they needed to make an extra 10% on the millions that they already had. No one can produce a 10% gain on ones investment its impossible. This is a very sad story & the entire family is ruined and broken. It says that when you see someone else shortcoming its really a reflection of our own shortcoming. Apparently all of us have a strong yetzer for money and greed and we need to daven and work harder to improve out own middos and stop focusing on others mistakes and shortcomings.

Can you please point to the "liberals" here in the US who advocated for the release of the Lockerbie bomber? I can't find any. I can't find a single public statement from ANYONE asking for "compassion" for him. Obviously you have some facts that the rest of us don't, so please share them here. It's not like you would have just made up that lie out of thin air now, would you?

You are an idiot.

You think it is a joke that a person had to turn in his own father to stop him from stealing from people? You think it was easy for him? Do you have any idea how much he likely saved future victims?

And it weighed so heavily on him that he committed suicide over it? Even as a Jew? leaving a family with young children behind?

And you, a pig of a human being, think this is something to make jokes about?

You are an absolute piece of human garbage and a disgrace to the entire Jewish community.

According to the NY Post The body is still unclaimed and its at A funeral director at the Andrett Funeral Home-Gramercy Park Memorial Chapel who took the body today from the Medical Examiner's Office & the body is gonna be cremated. There is a mitzva of Kevuras Yisroel some one should contact Hamisaskim and the funeral parlor and see if there could be away to make a kevuras Yiroel with a tahara, minyan, hesped and kadish and prevent the body from being cremated which is A'sur according to the Torah. Its a sad story that even Ruth Madoff wont even attend the funeral of her own son. Its in the hands of Klal Yisroel to do a mitzva of chesed shel emes.
