Berlin – Germany’s economy in 2010 grew at its strongest rate since the country’s reunification, propelled by exports and rising investment, the Federal Statistics Office said Wednesday.

German gross domestic product increased 3.6% last year in price-adjusted terms, after slumping 4.7% in 2009. That was the strongest increase since pan-German records began in 1992, but slightly below economists’ forecasts of a 3.7% gain.
Germany’s Economy Minister Rainer Bruederle said the country’s economic recovery was driven by domestic demand, and the country is on course for full employment. “We’ve grown twice as fast as the average of the European Union,” Mr. Bruederle said.
In seasonally-adjusted terms, German GDP increased “roughly 0.5%” in the fourth quarter of 2010 from the previous quarter, after gaining 0.7% in the third quarter, said Norbert Raeth, a senior economist at the statistics office. “We recently adjusted the data to take account of the very heavy winter weather during December,” Mr. Raeth said.
That because they have a conservative in office. Not like here we have socialist, left wing liberals who are destroying our country, they want everyone on food stamps.
The CDU party makes our Democrats look conservative. Are you kidding? They are considered the “centrist” party. You should really take at look at what constitutes “conservatism” there. This party SUPPORTS the current, universal healthcare system. They SUPPORT the national pension system (akin to our social security system), etc. In Europe, when they say “conservative” they just mean you don’t support an ENTIRELY socialist system.
Bernie Sanders would be called a “centrist” in Germany.
