Coney Island, NY – Dozens of passengers spent the night huddled in subway cars after the snowstorm that blanketed the northeast stranded their train in Brooklyn’s Coney Island station.

Passenger Eva Mahoney says she and other riders were routed to the distant station because signals were malfunctioning on other lines. Then the Metropolitan Transportation Authority suspended service, stranding the train from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
The MTA says it suspended service because it was afraid passengers might get stuck between stations. It said it had intended to use the empty train to clear snow from tracks later in the morning.

In all seriousness, if they have to suspend service, what are they supposed to do with the people on board?
Reading the full article, they weren’t stuck on the trains. They chose to stay there rather than go out in the cold.
Whats the big deal? Use the time to catch up on email, correspond with friends on facebook or listen to a daf yomi shiiur on your ipod.
Reminds of the guy who was stuck on the escelator for many hours because it stopped working…
To #4 What if you do not have an electronic device with internet or you do not have facebook. Some people do not!! It gets cold on thew subway after a few hours!! The MTA should make contingency plans to take these stranded people to a school, community center, etc. Not everything is in the middle of nowhere!!
