The price of a gallon of milk has climbed 31 cents so far this year – and could reach even higher by the summer.
The price is regulated by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets, and its officials notified grocery stores of the hike.
The price could be even higher in the city, especially in low-income neighborhoods where residents buy groceries from small bodegas and convenience stores. [NY Daily News]
I must agree with anon at 1:43 PM. What is with the entitlement issues? “Scrimp and save to get by”, one commenter says, like that’s suppose to gain my sympathy? Most families in America have two parents working and they also must scrimp and save to get by. And they do it without government hand-outs. Have some dignity and stop expecting hard working tax payers to pay your way.

He’s not saying about the matter. He is just kindly informing the public of availability of funds for those who are eligible. No need to get upset at HIM!
Moron of 1239,
what do you say to the working poor, those not on the govt. dole each and every day.
Those out there working and trying to raise a family and struggle doing it.
With regard to the milk prices going up, please advise all those who are eligible to apply for WIC benefits. There are so many young men in kollel who have to scrimp and save to get by. There are those who have their parents supporting them. They can still apply for WIC. If found eligible they can receive milk, eggs, juice, cereal, cheese. Quantity is based on how many children are under age 5. Pregnant moms are also eligible. Please don’t hesitate. IF one is eligible one should defiantly apply. Cholov Yisroel products are also available.

It is plain and simple the corrupt politicians who do not care about you and the cost of your living as it escalates.
