Jerusalem, Israel - Rabbis Want Animal Sacrifice Back |

Jerusalem, Israel - A group of extremist rabbis wants to resume the biblical practice of animal sacrifice at a religious site in Jerusalem, its members said.
When the Bais Hamikdash (Jewish Temples) stood in the Old City of Jerusalem more than 2,000 years ago, animal sacrifice was a centerpiece of the religion. After the destruction of the temples, sacrifices were banned.
Now a group, called the Re-established Sanhedrin, is trying to find sheep suitable for sacrifice, with an eye towards resuming the practice at the Har HaBayis. [Scotsman.com]

Not a new concept, specifically with respect to Korbon Pesach, but as pointed out on this blog and in many seforim, it is not to be done. OY VEY, USED SEFORIM AND BLOG IN THE SAME SENTENCE. Either way, at least were blogging about a good sugya.

This idea is not new at all. Many seforim have been dealing with these issues. I heard that R. Akiva Eiger poses seven issues / problems that must be solved regarding this innovation. (I don't know where it is.) These people are not innovators, but to act before ascertaining the halachaic view is most definitely wrong.

We can have a theoretical discusion about this- that is what torah is all about. But if you start doing things that no Gadol ever did - from the time of the Bais Hamikdosh untill now- that is called apikorses.

Actaually a Rishon, the Kaftor Vaperach, says that since tumah is either hutrah or hudchah btzibur and Korban Pesach is b'kares, then we are obligated to bring the korban pesach today.
However this mitzvah is not yehareg va'al yavor therefore I guess that is why it is not done today
Any thoughts???

sounds like Avodah Zarah to me. If there's no Bais Hamikdosh and no Mishkon are we allowed to sacrifice korbonos? I think not.
