Blaze at Monsey synagogue may have been accidental
By SUZAN CLARKE
THE JOURNAL NEWS

(Original publication: April 2, 2007)
MONSEY - Investigators today said they believe the suspicious fire that destroyed a controversial anti-Zionist group's synagogue last night may have accidental.

The ongoing investigation is being hampered by a flare-up of the fire about an hour ago that is limiting access to the structure, Ramapo Police Detective Lt. Brad Weidel said at a press conference today.

Arson dogs have detected no accelerant, he noted.

"Right now we have no reason to believe that this was an arson fire," he said. "The circumstances of the fire are not 100 percent clear to us."

All that was accomplished by starting the fire was that now they have an argument that the anti NK's use violence as their way of expressing themselves(as stated in that article, posted at 10:33 AM), but it's not too late, we can still denounce whoever started the fire, and work on NK through other means.

Interesting, to take part in a conference to proclaim that the holocaust did indeed happen,
- just that the state of Israel does not have the right to use the blood of the 6,000,000 Jews for there bloody politics and putting the entire “klal yisral” into danger - is condemned with the highest possible tunes,

but to do exactly what Hitler ym”s did by burning a fellow Jews home and wish he was there is perfectly excepted.

I like these armchair religious Zionists. They always express their bloodthirsty ideas and want others (especially non-religious Jews) to do their dirty work for them by putting their necks on the line for the failing Zionist state, so that the haredi Zionists can stay warm and comfy in Bnai Brak or Brooklyn. They believe that the blood of some Jews is cheaper than others. Of course this is internal racism, not unlike their idea that the suffering of some Jews is more important than the suffering of Palestinians or anyone else! Go figure!

Confirmed sighting of BECK in IRAN

MONSEY - A suspicious fire last night burned down a synagogue-house used by an anti-Israel, ultra-Orthodox Jewish group whose members attended the Iran-sponsored Holocaust denial conference last year.

Ramapo police and county arson investigators viewed the blaze as suspicious because Neturei Karta has been the target of threats.

Last night's raging fire on the eve of Passover destroyed Bais Yehuda, a synagogue and residence at 102 Saddle River Road. The building is a block from Route 306.

Dozens of Hasidic Jews and other people lined Saddle River Road as 75 firefighters from Monsey, Tallman, Spring Valley, Hillcrest and other volunteer departments powered water against the building.

Flames had already engulfed the three-story structure when Monsey firefighters arrived at 8:14 p.m., within two minutes of the fire being reported.

"Fire was blowing out from the side of the building when I arrived," Fire Chief Douglas Perry said last night.

Perry said people lining the streets and downed electrical lines temporarily impeded firefighters from getting into the building.

The fire's origin was being investigated by Ramapo police detectives and the Sheriff's Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation's arson detectives.

"Right now, were terming this fire as suspicious," Capt. James Quinn of the Ramapo police said at the fire scene.

Arson investigators at the fire scene declined to comment.

The fire almost spread to what fire officials called a dormitory behind the synagogue, Rockland Fire and Emergency Services Director Gordon Wren said.

There were 29 beds in the three-story building, which also contained offices, Wren said.

"The firefighters saved the illegal dorms," he said.

Water from fire hoses rolled down Saddle River Road as firefighters battled the blaze in a steady rain. Flames could still be seen in the attic after 10 p.m.

Police yellow tape cordoned off dozens of residents watching the fire. Many supported Neturei Karta's anti-Zionist views, while others opposed the group.

Neturei Karta's Hasidic Jews oppose the Jewish state on religious grounds and believe Jews should live under Arab Muslim rule until the Messiah comes.

Over the years, Neturei Karta members have burned the Israeli flag and met with people and groups that have vowed to destroy Israel. Opponents called Neturei Karta a fringe group. In December, Neturei Karta members captured worldwide attention when they embraced Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and spoke at a seminar for Holocaust deniers in Iran.

"They were outspoken," Alfred Schwartz, 47, said last night. "They were shaking hands and kissing the terrorists. They don't belong here."

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, who embraced Ahmadinejad, said last night that the fire was purposely set. The rabbi blamed pro-Israel Zionists.

"This is a perfect example of the intimidation used by Zionists to silence Torah Jews or anyone who disagrees with them," Weiss said. "We're peaceful people. We don't raise our hands against anyone. Instead of talking to us using logic, they used violence."

Weiss said Rabbi Moshe Beck and his wife lived in the house but were in London for Passover.

In January, about 350 people led by the Jewish Defense Organization protested outside the building. They carried signs that read, "Neturei Karta, U R traitors," and "Neturei crackpots, leave Monsey" and "Go to Iran."

They will now be getting sympathy from those who always look to cheer the losers.

But comments like "they should've burned all of them also" or something to that effect? It's VERY disturbing to read something like this on a frum, chassidishe blog. We are supposed to be better than the rest of them.

Reading all the comments here I could've easily thought this is a sh'choirim blog!

Whatever everyone thinks of the Becks and their anti Zionist agenda, no one has the right to destroy someones home or to render judgement upon another Yid. We may not agree with the way Beck shows his anti Zionism, but, most Chareidim are anti Zionist also, although not so radical. Who knows what Hashem thinks of him,. What he does is L'shem Shomayim in his own way, even if most of us disagree with the way he does it. Maybe he IS right and we are all wrong, who knows?
