One of the neighbors on the block called in the to 911 and to the media that the fire is dangerous and he invited the Daly News and the NY Post to come up to his second floor porch to take pictures.

I agree with the fact that it needs control but i waqsn't at this location i was at 12th and 47th which was a very controled fire at the time when i was there then the fire truck drove by and stopped they pulled out theyre hose and shut the fire the reason was that the bin is full i mean the fire was in the bin and what do you expect out of a community with approx. 20,000 familys ke"h within 2 hours everybody burning theyre chumetz and finaly with designated areas so the bin is full there was no hazard nobody was standing close to the fire and it was closed off with baracades i give credit for the fire department for benig there for our safety but common no respect they just had to show theyre part theyre control and the couldnt give a hoot what we had to say hopefuly next year will be an easier transaction.

thats not true, I was there also, the fire was of control, it was huge --- no HUGE. There was one FDNY Fire Rescue car there just observing and the fire kept cracking and things were popping and it was getting dangerous, they called for a truck for it to be put it. They had a permit, but not for a fire that size.
What happened today in Boro Park was a HUGE chillul hashem. Kids were just throwing garbage and wood and bags and cardboard into the fire, adults were standing around laughing. It was disgusting. They took a simple mitzvah and turned into a circus. On other corners they were burning NY metal trash bins. There is no excuse for this. The city is nie to enough to make sure garbage trucks come a few time son every block, they let them have permits to have small controlled fires in several corners. It's got to end. I hope next year they are stricter and put an end to this dangerous practice. Kids were burned today in two parts of Boro park, in williamsburgh, and g-d knows where else.

First of all this fire was on with a Permit 2)there were barricades all around there were no kids jumping around or fueling this fire 3)The fire truck drove down the street and stopped, when they saw this fire. Without asking to speak to someone in charge, without warning, started spraying their hoses at the people, the people started to scream so they stopped. Then they decided they will put out the fire. even though it was very orderly, supervised, and contained in special bins. the people protested, since the Rachmistrivka Rebbe Shlit"a didn't burn his chometz yet, "why are you doing this ?" "oh its too close to a tree" was the answer. When the people protested again, they called for re-enforcements to justify their call they claimed thery were punched, and hit, which was a total lie until the top top in command arrived (besides all the meshorsim and yotzer meshorsim every Tom Dick & Harriet from the NYC Fire Dept Hierarchy was there)
The top saw what was going on he told us we're right he made the firemen move the bins a few feet and re-lighted the fire....
I witnessed it all, I was there...

I agree totally. Not only that, but the FDNY was gracious enough to allow designated street corners for burning chametz. I guess thats not good enough for us, we need to make huge fires in the streets and when R'L a child is severly burned or a family goes homeless, we all say something must be done. I'm so sick of it.

Was the crowd really disorderly? Or, did they want to burn their chometz and FDNY didn't let them.
