Washington – More members of Congress are seeing something cleared for only a select group of Americans: Photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse.

Republican Sen. James Inhofe told CNN’s Eliot Spitzer on Wednesday he saw about 15 photos of bin Laden’s body, most taken at the al Qaeda leader’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Three were taken on a naval vessel from which bin Laden was buried at sea after the May 2 U.S. commando raid.

“Pretty gruesome” is how Inhofe described photos of brains hanging out of bin Laden’s eye socket. The wound either entered or exited an ear, the Oklahoma senator said.

Many people have demanded proof that bin Laden was killed.

“That was him,” said Inhofe, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “He is gone. He’s history.”

It’s great that our tattys and mommys in washington are looking at it so we little kinderlach shouldn’t have to.

On a serious note, the elitism from Washington is grotesque. We taxpayers paid a half a trillion dollars for these photos, but these ‘public servants’ (yeah right, more like we are their servants) must shield us from these images. It’s interesting how liberals defend dirty magazines as freedom but chas vesholom for us to see our enemy dead.

You can say how much times you want that its gruesome and its him but I won’t believe till I see a picture myself
And because you saw a picture you have to be a big shut and go to the news and say that I saw it and I’m confirming that its gruesome and that he’s dead who cares we heard it already thousand times the same sentence.

Why is VIN over-represented by immature and irresponsible commentors?
Sorry, but we don’t have a “right” to have pictures published, pictures that would most likely lead to more innocent deaths. But, who cares, right? Odds are, it’s going to be some other people that will die, not us, right?
    Pathetic.

I have a modest proposal for reducing the budget deficit. As #6 points out, a lot of money can be made by charging $20 to view the picture. Let’s see, I’ll be 100 million Americans, and perhaps a billion people overall, will plunk down $20 to gaze at Bin Laden with his brains coming out of his eyes.

While $20 billion won’t eliminate the national debt, or even 1% it it, hey, it’s a start.

I don’t understand why people want to see photos to “prove” it was him. As everyone knows now—any photograph can be photoshopped. Either you believe it and don’t need a photo, or you don’t believe it was him, in which case, no photo will make you believe it. This is 2012–whole stories are made up from fake pictures–especially as regards to dumping on Israel. Google it. Almost anything can and is fabricated by those who have an agenda.

If the pictures are shown, the govt is afraid, rightfully so, that it will lead to more of these sickos trying to ‘avenge’ Osama’s death. Better let the pics be kept top secret, and all the inquisitive, surf the web for the bootleg ones.

The crime shows on prime time TV show “dead bodies” all the time. Well OK, they are not real, they are latex models, but why not make the Bin Laden hit an episode on NCIS?

It’s just a matter of time before all of us get to see these “gruesome” pictures. Frankly, I am sure that all of us have seen worse images on tv or the movies.

They should have sent back his head and we should have displayed it in the new world trade center lobby. Talk about getting tourism back to new York!!!!!!

    1. Nobody has any RIGHT to see anything. Clearly the government has an interest in keeping the photo out of public view. They have the right to do that.

    2. Imagine the propaganda posters that they will produce with this photo. If both Republicans and Democrats (who agree on NOTHING these days) can agree that this photo should be kept hidden, then so be it.

    3. Our government is never under any obligation to show you anything purely to satisfy your wants. That includes everything from birth certificates to photos taken of covert operations. You are not entitled to ANY of it.

I accept that our government needs to keep secrets. Who knows what these pictures reveal about bin Laden and his network of terrorists. I accept the fact that covert operations need to take place and that information will need to be kept classified. So long as there has been a review by the appropriate intelligence agencies and the oversight committees in Congress, that is good enough for me.
