Tehran, Iran – US Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss, of the organization Jews United Against Zionism, also known as Naturei Karta, along with Canadian Rabbi Yeshaye Rosenberg attended an International conference on Global Alliance against Terrorism for a Just Peace in Tehran on Saturday.

Weiss and Rosenberg spoke with clerics and other Iranian officials during the conference. The rabbis attended the conference, despite it taking place on Shabbat.

Out of curiosity, I decided to go see what type of a person would join this strange and unpopular group. There were a few men with beards, and they were standing in a line. Some were holding tambourines, most were chanting in low, inaudible voices. I particularly noticed how pale and undernourished most of them looked. One man appeared almost skeletal. The most alarming thing, however, was their eyes. All the men seemed to have eyes that were glazed over. Out of focus. The eyes of men who are deranged in some way. As a psych major who had done community work with mentally challenged individuals, one thing was very clear to me: these men appeared to be mentally unstable and were displaying bizarre, unbalanced behavior. I truly felt sorry for them, and was filled with sympathy, rather than any animosity or revulsion for these pathetic, misguided souls.
Why do you people get so worked up? They don’t represent anyone, they don’t hurt anyone, let them do what they wish and go on with your life. The outsider understands that just like in every society there are all types of fringe groups, so do we, only by us where everybody thinks he is the only one who is the REAL jew there can be such vile crappy comments.

You disgrace the holy Brisker Rav’s name. You must ask him for forgiveness. There are almost 6 million Jews living in Israel. Would these lunitics and all those who support them want to see them anihilated Chas Veshalom? Most religious Jews are anti zionist, however for better or worse we must support the state of Israel because the lives all of almost 6 million Jews depends on the stregnth and security of the state of Israel.
