London – There will be no space to bury the dead in many parts of the country within the next decade, a worrying investigation has found.

Nearly a quarter of councils will no longer have room for burials in ten years or less, the research suggests.

The problem is particularly prevalent in the capital, where six London boroughs have already stopped permitting new burials, according to a report in The Times.

So far no viable solution is on the horizon and it looks like allotments and public spaces may have to be turned into graveyards to cope with the problem.

Most graves in Britain are already dug to take three burials on top of each other for use as family plots but the increase in Muslim and Jewish cemeteries, where only one body may be buried per grave, has also put pressure on space.

Many young, healthy people are being advised to buy up burial space. Some London residents are being forced to pay up to treble the fees to have their loved ones buried by councils elsewhere in the capital because their municipal graveyard is full.

Its only because of their regulations that have stopped new burial grounds in / around cities. All they need to do is to create new ones further away from the city – like all the “newer” ones already are.
Why dont they do two tier burials – like they do in Israel – bit like a multi-story car park – only for parking deceased loved ones!

What this report does not mention is that 71% of all people dying in the United Kingdom are cremated. Clearly, this would not apply to Jews, but it is a factor to be taken into consideration.

#2 is correct. In NYC there’s also not enough place to burry the dead and that’s why we have our cemetaries about an hour drive from the city. Be it New Jersey monsey, new square or the 3 cemetaries in Monroe

Even members of the Royal Family are now routinely cremated (i.e. Princess Margaret). If all the goyim, who have no prohibition against cremation, were required to be cremated that would solve the problem for those whose religious faith prohibited cremation.
