FILEJerusalem – Opposition leader Tzipi Livni slammed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday for “harming the relationship” between Israel and the US.

“Netanyahu spoke about consensus,” Livni said, “and if there is a consensus in Israel, it’s that the relationship with the US is essential to Israel, and a prime minister that harms the relationship with the US over something unsubstantial is harming Israel’s security and deterrence.”

Livni added that such a prime minister should resign. “I am saying this loud and clear.”

“Israel’s deterrence and legitimacy in the world is directly connected to our relationship with the greatest power in the world, the US,” Livni said.

She explained that Obama’s speech on Thursday “is not reason enough” to challenge the US, and said that Netanyahu’s statements were political and meant to maintain the coalition.

“An American president that supports the two-state vision is representing Israeli interests and is not anti-Israel,” Livni said.

The only way to stop the Palestinians from unilaterally declaring statehood, Livni explained, is to have the US “convince states that plan to support the decision not to do so, but to support negotiations.”

““Israel’s deterrence and legitimacy in the world is directly connected to our relationship with the greatest power in the world, the US,” Livni said.”
Spoken like a true apikoress (apostate).

Obama’s speech WAS pro-Israel. He did NOT say that Israel must withdraw to the “pre-1967 lines” and he DID say that the Palestinians must accept Israel’s right to exist if they want to have a state. Also, he did not say that settlement building has to stop.

People are getting all outraged over what AP reported, which was totally wrong, and nobody is paying attention to what the President actually did say.

It was at least as pro-Israel as Bush.

Here are two statements, one by Bush, one by Obama. Can you tell which one is by which President? Can you find any difference in policy between the two? I can’t.

“The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. “

“Israel must have secure and rec…ognized borders, which should emerge from negotiations between the parties in accordance with UNSC Resolutions 242 and 338. In light of new realities on the ground, including already existing major Israeli populations centers, it is unrealistic to expect that the outcome of final status negotiations will be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949….”

Charlie, you selectively quote as usual. Note that Bush’s concern was for ISRAEL’s borders; he just did what Sharon asked him to do. The first thing the tzoirer in the White House mentioned is a “viable ‘Palestine'” and only then a secure Israel. That speaks volumes, Charlie. Get it?

I agree with #’s 5 & 9. The status quo of the last 45 years cannot be maintained indefinitely. It was never, but never, the intention of Moshe Dayan, Yitzchak Rabin, Ezer Weizman, Abba Eban, David Ben-Gurion, or Golda Meir that the occupation would last nearly half a century.

And what will Israel receive in return for giving away their land. The same as they received from giving away Gaza – rockets into Sderot.

I’m not sure whether it’s his hate of Israel (and Netanyahu) or its his sheer stupidity but Obaba didn’t learn his lesson from the first time he opened his big mouth. It was his demand for a construction freeze that made it so that Abbas couldn’t agree to negotiations with Israel unless they agreed to a construction freeze since he couldn’t be less demanding than Obama. Now that Obama opened his big mouth again, the Palestinians will never agree to anything less than pre-1967 borders (not that they would anyway and not that they did even when offered just about that). For those of you who think he’s not Pro-Palestinian, that he’s just trying to close the gap between Israel and the Palestinians and that “everyone knows that Israel is going to have to give back most of that land anyway”. Explain to me why he did not at the same time say that the Palestinian refugees would not be allowed to return to Israel and would have to settle in their own country. Doesn’t everyone agree that will be the case as well? The only ones more anti-Israel are the NK jerks, yemach shemam, who were in Iran last shabbos.

Don’t even publish this idiots comments. She is clearly Eiruv Rav. Dignifying her comments by publishing them give credence to what would normally be considered the ramblings of a non-useful idiot.

What about the speech is unclear? “1967 lines” means May, 1967; borders haven’t changed significantly from July 1967 (unless Obama means Israel gets the Sinai back!). “Sovereign and contiguous [PLO] state” means either Israel swaps the whole south for some of Gaza or Yehuda, or the PLO gets to bisect Israel.

“The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.”

Tzipi Livni is a sad case of a Jew pandering to the world. Her parents, both strong Likudniks, would not be too happy with her. The sadest thing in all of this is that there are still so many Jews who do not understand the danger Obama has created for ALL of us Jews. He has also made the world a much more dangerous place by turning American foreign policy on its head and for projecting such weakness towards America’s enemies. World stability requires a consistent, resolute United States, and under Obama we have a U.S. that is deferrential towards its foes, and undermining of its allies. We are all indebted to PM Netanyahu for standing up to this Paroh!

Livni is trying to undermind Netanyahu’s authority because she will do anything to become the PM. She doen’t care about israel she only wants to become PM. There will never be peace until the Moshiach comes. To those people who love Obama their messiah has already come and he has brought peace to their world.

I think Obama is right – Israel should give back the land they won in 1967, as soon as Obama offers the US to go back to the boundaries we had before we took land from the Indians.

And while we’re at it, get back the $24, and give back Manhattan to them. We can surely use the money, can’t we?

Or we can go with the American plan – keep the land, but let the Palestinians build casinos and sell tax-free cigarettes!
