b”h I was so nervous.
Live report from passenger was on the plane this is a text from him. We left tall aviv to NY at 1:30AM (6:30PM NY time) right after takeoff we felt the plane was not ok, it was shaking and make very unusual vibration, after a few min the pilot called all the flight attendance to the cabin then he announced that due to a technical problem with the aircraft (he didn’t say what it is) we have to return to the airport, but 1st has to dump the fuel, after 20 min he said that the main landing gear is stuck and he is consulting with the airport what to do next, and after 20 min he announced that the airport decided to wait till sunrise so the engineers on the ground can visually see what is wrong with the aircraft and it will take till 5:30AM to see what the problem is with the landing gear, he also said that we have more then enough fuel to stay in the air for a while, we where circulating
80 miles from isreal above sea for 5 hour
the whole time we heard and felt heavy vibration and noise from the center of the aircraft where the landing gear is locate
Once the sun came up we saw military aircraft coming close to our aircraft they where circulating below of our plane to inspect the condition of the landing gear.
Then they reported back to us that it is BH safe to land.
Bh we landed safely.
There is 100s of fire truck around us

Just spoke to my brother in law who is still sitting on the plane! He says everyone was very calm and they didnt even realize that the whole world was worried about them!
#7 – yeah and they haven’t even gone anywhere yet.
any body know how it landed ?
On the belly? Or on the right wheels?
Kdai lismoch al r’ shimon bshas hadchag…
This proves again that VIN is a true responsible leader reporting news. So many drama and baloney was circulating in past 3 hours from all other Charedi bloggers, and news phone service.. VIN has a real sense of news when it comes to reporting. Thank you! your service has been upgraded in my bookmarks as superior.
I heard that the wheels were ok the problem was by the signal if so I don’t understand why the plane was making noise and vibration? Maybe because they dumped the fuel?
now we can know witch satmer ppl went with el al
Can someone please tell me why, after reading Abe – #12 – I have tears in my eyes? I was perfectly fine until then.
they new nothing
I just spoke to my wife who was on that flight, she said nobody new anything, the pilot said there’s some techinical difficulties we have turn back to EY everybodybody was grumping, WHEN THEY LANDED SHE CALLED ME I WAS HySTERECEL
She is why? She opened her black berry and saw it all, they new nothing.
She said it was the best landing ever.
JUST IN: Kupas Huiyr sent their entire ataff with Busses 2 BenGurion airport to collect all the Tzedakas ppl promised on the plane.

You say “finally some good news!”.
Let me correct you, if I may. It is finally time to realize how much good news we have every day when we don’t even know that hundreds of planes take off and land without incident. And this goes for all other benefits and pleasures we have without realizing it. This event should make us AWARE of these benefits and we should thank the one who gave them to us, and not only complain when something bad happens.
Just an interesting observation, the same people who write here ‘Borich Hashem’, and the news site that has in capital letters ‘Borich Hahsem’, do they say daily Asher Yatzer with real ‘Kavanah’.
When it comes to ones in a while high drama, everyone realizes you need to say B’h. but the daily ‘Niflaoes Haboreh’ minute by minute that Hahsem gives to each individual we tend to forget to say B’h.
I was at a chasunah when we heard the first reports. Each minyan for maariv recited a kapital tehillim.
(Reply to #31 ): Thanks, cool masmid. You hit the nail on the head. Not about me being special. I’m just an average Joe. But I DID imagine each moment as “Abe” described it. And I felt my heart in my throat, envisioning the whole scene, announcements coming from the pilot, babies crying behind me, my family waiting for me back home…. And then I just remembered, so many years ago, that Pan Am flight, and how I cried for the families…….. So the tears came again. Thanks, cool masmid, for explaining it.
This is a bi-weekly occurrence at the airports here in NY. I don’t understand what everyone is making such a fuss about. As a first responder for the city of New York, it is unfathomable why they would dispatch so many ambulances and firetruck for such a routine event. Just because this one time it was reported to the public, everyone freaks out. I guess it’s better that the public doesn’t know next time…

We all take air travel so lightly because we have been flying for almost 100 years. The bottom line is, its not so simple.
Aircraft are designed to be safe even when things go wrong (as in this case) and the pilots train for this. They practice all sorts of emergencies in a simulator. Every airline pilot is required by law to spend 2 days doing simulator training every 6 months.
In truth modern Air travel is the safest mode of travel ever invented!
In over 60 years, El Al has never had a fatal accident on a commercial passenger flight, which resulted from mechanical problems, from within the airplane, B’H. There is no other airline in the world, including Quantas, which can match that record.

To #47 - Perhaps, you didn’t fully comprehend my posting. I stated that El Al in over 60 years, never had a fatal accident on any commercial passenger flight, because of mechanical problems, within the airplane. I am aware of the 1955 incident, where an El Al plane accidentally strayed over Bulgaria, and was shot down. I am also aware of the incident involving the El Al cargo jet, which crashed in Amsterdam, due to mechanical problems. However, I still stand by my original statement, as no other airline in the world, including Quantas or Southwest, can match El Al’s passenger safety record. Regarding Southwest, although no passengers have been killed as a result of a crash, seveal years ago, one of its pilots crashed through the fence of an airport onto a highway (following a landing), and killed a young child. In addition, it has experienced several landings, where passengers have been injured, because of either pilot error, bad weather, or both.
Don’t forget ALL ELAL pilots are experienced IAF pilots, and flew planes in the army… so they know what they are doing….
