Benjamin Netanyahu repeated his assertion Monday night during his visit to Washington that such lines are “indefensible.”

Netanyahu has declared the lines indefensible several times since President Barack Obama said last week that future border negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians should be based on the 1967 lines.

But Obama also said those lines could be adjusted to accommodate mutually agreed land swaps.

It was interesting to hear Netanyahu say the real remedy for the middle east is the adoption by the Arab countries of “true democracy” and voting rights “for all, including women and gays”. Given his fragile coalition at home and the Republican congress here in the U.S., why would he invoke the issue of gay rights in the Arab world, when there are some in his government coalition who oppose gay rights in EY as a matter of religious belief.

I don’t think voting is a gay rights issue. He was simply underlining that the Arab countries are so far removed from democracy that they ban people from voting based on orientation and sex. Whereas Israel does not.

Bibi’s speeches is sham, it all about political consumption at home. Nevertheless, it will come back and bite him after president Obama wins the 2012 election.
