Florida – How Gmail Found a Stolen Car

    14

Florida – Avrohom Eliezer Friedman got his car stolen the other day. But! Police found the carjacker on the road thanks to Gmail. Well, kinda. It’s not exactly the Gmail we love and use.

The thing is Friedman’s car had a customized license plate: GMAIL. A cop saw that car on the road and presumably wanted to see what kind of weirdo would have that sort of license plate, and when he punched it in he discovered the car was stolen. He pulled the car over and returned it to its rightful owner.

Great! So anytime a cop is just wondering what type of jewelry my wife has in her box he can just use his special powers

The license tag is not an ordinary Florida tag, but a special Florida Law Enforcement tag. The cop probably wanted to know what “GMAIL” had to do with cop talk and law enforcement, so he punched in the tag and found that the car was stolen.

But one must wonder about the intellect of a car thief who would steal a car with such a distinctive tag on it.

One reason not to have personalized plates is because they are more memorable in case you do something wrong. In this case it was good B”H

It looks like a “support your local police” plate or something like that. People think that cops will look the other way if you donate to the PBA or whatever.
