New York, NY - Furious City Council members lashed out at Mayor Bloomberg’s budget director, blaming him for cuts to libraries, firehouses and child care.
Budget chief Mark Page also took heat from the council’s GOP leader, James Oddo (SI), for letting pensions, health care and debt-service costs skyrocket during Bloomberg’s tenure.
Councilman David Greenfield (D-Brooklyn) screamed, “Shame on all of you!” to Page for shifting child-care vouchers to a new city agency—a move Greenfield likened to a cut because the services are not equal.

If we don't have the money, we can't spend it. Nothing is free out there. What would you like to be cut? Why is it the state's responsibility to pay for your child care? Just because they did it in the past doesn't mean they must continue to do so. we are in a recession here!

the point the council Is making is that we can do better with what we do have. Pensions, health care and debt-service costs skyrocket during Bloomberg’s tenure. That's what they are upset about.

It's called prioritizing. Instead of planting trees, traffic Islands, bike lanes, predestrian mall etc. Parades, fireworks etc etc they should keep the vouchers.

History of this Administration when someone screams at them they ignore the guy and make sure he can't deliver a penny to his district.
David keep on screaming and your district will keep on losing. Look Felder never raised his voice against the Administration in public forums and always got everything resolved for his district. The ones that went public and held press conferences against the Administration lost.
