Sherry Scott (L) with others who claim they were assaulted.Rockland County, NY - Spring Valley’s village clerk says she and her family were attacked by a group of Hasidic Jews last night after her 11-year-old daughter accidentally tossed a water balloon into the street and hit a car.
Sherry Scott says after the water balloon hit the car, a man jumped out and chased her daughter, and then others went after her son and grandson. She says at one point, around 40 or 50 people were with them. Scott also claims she was barred from going back into her house and suffered injuries to her knee and back.
Police confirmed two people were arrested, but were unclear over what the charges were.
Scott says she is working with the NAACP and may sue.

Local media are reporting that an African America from Spring Valley NY may sue after her children were hit by Jews moments after – as she says – one of her children accidently threw a water balloon on a passing car. The stories suggest that the driver jumped out of the car, ran after an 11 year old and started hitting the kid. Soon, dozens of Jews joined in the attack.
This narrative is false. Here are the facts:
Wednesday June 15 at 10:45, a motorist took a turn off Monsey Blvd onto Fletcher in Spring Valley New York. The driver, a Jew, suddenly got physically hit by something that flew into his car through an open window. After swerving and then gaining controlling of his car, the driver pulled into a Parking Lot in the area and contacted Chaverim of Rockland; a volunteer service organization of the local Jewish Community. After arriving, the members noticed it was a water balloon that was thrown at the car. After speculating if it was a mistake or a dangerous game by some, Chaverim observed from a covert location that youngsters are indeed waiting alongside the road, inching for trouble. However, cars driven by non-Jews were not attacked until a Volunteer of Chaverim passed and his car was hit by water balloons and small stones too.
After observing this, the members contacted the Police Department and ran after the perpetrators to try identify them for PD. Not wanting to physically hold down a minor and be subject to chargers, a few Volunteers obstructed the entrance of a house in an effort to prevent the youngsters from disappearing inside. At the same time, many African Americans at the scene started pushing and shoving the Jews in an effort to permit the perpetrators – who obviously were not supervised by their parents – to enter inside, and thus make it difficult to hold them accountable. This caused a physical struggle between the sides. At the time the Police arrived, they charged one member of the Jewish community and ticked another one for this scuffle.
Based on media reports, the parent is working with the NAACP and considering suing. In the mean time, some locals – including myself who was raised in a single parent household – hope that instead of lawsuits, parents will spend time 1) keeping tabs on their youngsters at the night hours; 2) teaching them to not play dangerous games against motor vehicles, and 3) to give them an upbringing that does not cause them to racially distinguish between Jewish and non-Jewish drivers/people.

I read that the balloon was accidentally tossed into the STREET. Maybe she was throwing it at another kid, missed and went into the street, and hit the car as it was passing?

This looks like a quiet condominium complex. This is not 13th Avenue in Boro Park. How did 40 or 50 people suddenly materialize? I find it very hard to believe that such a big crowd gathered so quickly to help the driver "attack" this family. So if this little detail is completely false or highly exaggerated, how much of this story is actually true?

The Chaverim had no right to go on to private property and attempt to block these kids from entering the house. They should have taken photos and reported the incident to police.
Unless they have been deputized by the local police they are at risk of being sued for assualt and tresspass by the adults who they engaged with.

When the rocks came through the windows the entire Yeshiva packed out with chains, sledge hammers, axes, bats, etc. When we caught the stone throwers we scrapped their faces off on the sidewalk until there wasn't much left, we broke knee caps, we bloodied these guys good. After a while of doing this no rocks ever came through our windows again and no Jew was ever attacked in the area of the Yeshiva again. The only language thugs understand is to break heads to stop the violence. Thugs only respect and fear you if they know they are going to pay for it. You have some nerve calling our people criminals. I never called anyone names in VIN before, but you are a idiot!

This is not a thug. It was a 12 year old girl who was playing in her condo complex and the balloon she threw went out into the street and hit a car. Do you still want to scrape her face off the sidewalk?

In the 60's the attackers of Jews would often first send a small kid to pelt us with stones and then would run in the direction of the ambush set for us. Then the entire gang would come out and there would a big battle. Violence against the Jews in the 60's was often instigated through a small child who set the trap. Then this gave the big guys an excuse to use violence against the Jews. This little kid was used as the bait to start something bigger - a neighborhood war - against the Jews. You know nothing of street tactics and you shouldn't comment about it. I resent you strongly for what you said. You talk in theory. The cops often would not help a Jew in trouble or when a Jew was attacked. Do you think the cops want to get involved with a race war with Blacks involved? They fear liberal judges who will accuse the police of bigotry against the blacks. The police try to ignore such incidents and will not come to help the Jews in such cases. To prove my point only a Jew was arrested in this incident. Not one Black. In the streets you got to be tougher than your enemy.

In the 60's they sent kids and girls to set traps to start wars and attack the Jews. You don't understand how gangs work. Small girls and boys were used as the instigators who were the bait to set the trap. They are not innocent at all. We beat up these kids and girls but not as bad as the big guys to prevent them from volunteering to be bait in the future.

So mob assault, battery and possibly murder are the right response to a child with a water balloon, Internet Tough Guy? Why? Because the thugs are Jews and the victim is Black.

The Torah tells us to wipe out Amalek from the adults to the smallest children because they are evil and will come back when they grow up to kill the Jews. I am not from the New Square community but I am sure that if you entered and acted in a non threatening waay you would be offered asistance if lost or ignored. There might be some curiosity but no violence.
I have witnessed a 6 car pile up when some debris (a paper streamer) was kicked up onto a car travelling at speed. As a driver you lose your awareness and swerve. It is very dangerous. When it was clearly witnessed that this girl was only throwing water balloons at drivers of a certain religion it became racist.

Actually the backup was called to peacefully defuse this situation before there was a real accident.
They did not touch or detain the child . They did try to keep the children from running into their house so the police would have whom to question.

And how do you know that he is a failure at raising his children? Do you know him personally? For all you know these children are very well mannered and bringing home 4.0 GPA's. The fact that his children are dressed like the average Amercan child may not be a problem for him or his wife. At no point has he said that he is frum. Before you criticize others and the way they raise their children, take a good look inside yourself and at your own family. While this is a primarily orthodox website, it is availabe to whomever wishes to read it and yes, even make comments. Many Yidden are very serious about their Jewishness and are not frum. You know: you can be a mentch without being frum but you cannot be frum without being a mentch.

Yes, racially motivated. They would not have mobbed up and attacked a Jewish family the same way.
And yes, a deadly assault. Under the law an overwhelming disparity of force makes any attack a much more serious affair. Forty or fifty grown men attacking children and an older woman is immense disparity of force. The victims - who were not the Chassids - would almost certainly have walked if they had shot the first five or ten attackers.

Deadly assault! They did not fight, they were mostly trained people that tried to keep the child from running in her home WITHOUT TOUCHING THE CHILD. (NOT ATTACKING)
