Brooklyn, NY - An orthodox Jewish man has been charged with assault and criminal mischief as hate crimes after a fight with his neighbors.
The man is accused of pouring a beer over the head of his neighbor, and then calling her husband an “Arab terrorist.” He is also accused of punching the man in the face.
But his lawyer claims that the police arrested the wrong man. He says the neighbor started the fight by calling his client a racial slur.
The fight broke out Sunday evening. The neighbor and his wife are from Turkey; it’s not clear if they are Muslim.
He has been ordered to stay away from his neighbors.

If he were a goy who did this to a Jew, you would be singing another song. This is a hate crime and I hope he serves jail time.

This report understates things a bit. According to regular news sources he smashed the man's wife's head into a car before pouring beer on her. He started beating the man and shrieking obscenities related to his ethnicity. Then he ran into a shul and attacked the cops when they came to arrest him.
It wasn't just a little harmless name calling. According to the official reports it was an all-out crazy assault complete with flight, resisting arrest and assaulting police officers.

I do no think this guy is "orthodox."
The Daily News reports:" "I'm very upset because I'm dating a Muslim and my family is being called racist," said Mazo Schwartz, whose father, Simchon Schwartz, 46, was charged with felony hate crimes.
Mazo Schwartz claimed Mustafa Turan attacked her dad and shouted an anti-Semitic slur. "My father was walking down the street. They exchanged words, and he [Mustafa Turan] hit him," she said. "We couldn't call the cops because it was the Shabbas."
Her boyfriend of two years, Amer Nicocevic, an Albanian, said Simchon Schwartz never hassled him about being Muslim. "He opened the door and welcomed me in," Nicocevic said."
I don't know. Will not call on Shabbos but is dating a muslim?!?
Go figure!!
The headlines in the press about "orthodox" and "hassid" is just to make us look bad.
