“As a father, I cannot begin to imagine the horrible heartbreak that Leiby Kletzky’s family is going through, and in speaking with their Rabbi today, I conveyed my deepest condolences. This killing was a stunning shock to our entire city, and I ask all New Yorkers, including the thousands of individuals who volunteered to search for little Leiby, to keep the Kletzky family in their thoughts and prayers. May they be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.”

City Comptroller John C. Liu issued the following statement today regarding the death of eight-year old Leiby Kletzky:

“Our hearts are with the family of little Leiby Kletzky in a time of indescribable tragedy. As the father of young son almost the same age as Leiby, I cannot begin to imagine what they and their community are suffering. We pray that justice will be dispensed without delay for this crime which horrifies and offends us all. The NYPD, Shomrim Patrol and Hatzolah are owed our gratitude for their quick response.”

STATEMENT BY PUBLIC ADVOCATE DE BLASIO ON THE DEATH OF EIGHT YEAR-OLD LEIBY KLETZY

“Words cannot express the sadness and the anger so many of us feel following the murder of eight year-old Leiby Kletzy. As a parent of two children, my heart goes out to his family and his community as they cope with this unspeakable tragedy. I commend the efforts of the NYPD, Shomrim Patrol and Hatzolah, who worked so tirelessly to find Leiby these past two days, and I hope for a swift application of justice for this heinous crime.”

STATEMENT BY MANHATTAN BOROUGH PRESIDENT SCOTT M. STRINGER ON THE DEATH OF LEIBBY KLETZSKY

Along with other New Yorkers, I am shocked and saddened this morning by the news of Leibby Kletzky’s death. Random, senseless killings are horrific wherever and whenever they occur–but the violent murder of an 8-year-old boy walking home alone from school for the first time is an appalling and painful crime. My heart goes out to Leibby’s parents and other family members, his friends and the community that loved him. Nothing can ever replace a lost child, but justice can and will be done. I want to thank the New York City Police Dept. and community volunteers for their hard work in helping to arrest a suspect so quickly in this case.

Assemblyman Peter Abbate, who represents Borough Park in addition to Bath Beach, Bensonhurst, and Dyker Heights, issued the following statement today on the horrifying abduction and murder of Leibby Kletzky, a 9-year-old boy.

“First and foremost, I extend my most heartfelt condolences to the Kletzky family. As a parent, I know that this is nothing short of a nightmare. Over the past 48 hours, thousands came together, putting forth an extraordinary effort in the search for Leibby. Now, as a community, we join in continuing to support the Kletzky family in any way possible.

I thank all of those from the Hatzolah, Shomrim, Chaveirim, NYPD, FBI and every single person who put up a flier, walked on the street or contributed in any way to the search. The massive outpouring of help is a clear indicator that even in the face of the greatest adversity, we are a strong united community.

No family should ever have to endure a tragedy such as this. I know the community and all of New York City joins me in keeping the Kletzky family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Statement from NYS Senator Eric Adams:

My heartfelt sympathy and condolences are extended to the family of Leiby Kletzky. As a parent, I understand how devastating this horrific and senseless loss of an innocent life has adversely impacted the family. I commend NYPD, Shomrim, and all of the others who were responsible for the capture of the perpetrator responsible for this barbaric and brutal murder.

Now the justice system must do its job and prosecute the predator to the fullest

Statement from Councilmember Brad Lander on the Murder of Leiby Kletzky.

No words can express the shock and horror that we all feel about the sickening murder of Leiby Kletzky. As a father, I am heartbroken, and cannot imagine the pain and sorrow the Kletzky family is now enduring. I join with the Borough Park and Kensington community, with the Orthodox Jewish community, with all New Yorkers, and all humanity, in wishing the Kletzky family strength and comfort at this almost impossibly difficult time.

Council Member Levin Saddened and Outraged Over the Death of Leiby Kletzky

“My deepest condolences go out to the family of Leiby Kletzky. I share in the sorrow and pain of Borough Park, the Jewish community, and all New Yorkers who have been touched by this unimaginable tragedy.

While the loss of such a young, innocent life is always incomprehensible, I am thankful for the tireless work of the New York Police Department, the Williamsburg and Borough Park Shomrim Patrols, Chaveirim, Chesed, Assemblyman Hikind, Councilmember Greenfield, Congressman Nadler, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies that have worked together to find Leiby and now, sadly, to bring the perpetrator to justice. To the hundreds of volunteers from Williamsburg who joined your counterparts in Borough Park to relentlessly search for young Leiby, I thank you for your valiant efforts and your dedication to the community.

Senseless tragedies such as this remind us to cherish each day we are given and bring us together as a greater community. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kletzky family, I mourn with them in their deepest sadness, and I hope, along with all New Yorkers, that they will find comfort and solace in this difficult time and in the days and years to come.”

    Thank you, Mr. Liu.
I notice that you have the heart to comment appropriately.
A certain NYC mayor has not said anything at all.
I hope that you run for mayor. I have noticed you for a long time, and I would vote for you.

Perhaps, this is a time, that we should learn from all law officers involved. How they were concerned about the welfare of this boy, regardless of what religion or ethnicity he was born into.

Let us also be Mechanech our children, to respect the value and dignity of everyone, regardless of which mother they was born to.

    Hashem Yerachem.

Vhachai Yiten El Liboy(And the living shoud take heart)
The Rabonim of all circles probably will give divrai hisorerus divrai kivushin to be mechazek the Olam in matters between man and hashem and man and his neighboor. That would be the a great thing we can do for the neshama of leiby.
Poshut in giving more tzedoko learning more Torah and Teshuva.
To the parents and siblings Hamokom Yenachem Eschem btoch Shaarei Availay Tziyon Viurushalaim. We should be able to see Leiby in Gechen betchiyas Hamaisim.

Where is our compassionate Mayor. I am sure he is busy telling the police not to do the “Perp Walk” with this sub-human. Shame on you Michael Bloomberg.

Maybe the money should go towards a foundation l’ilui nishmas Leiby h”yd. Perhaps an organization that educates children and families about stranger danger, so Leiby’s death should not have been in vain.

What a shanda!
