Brooklyn, NY – Sen. Golden: It’s Time For New York State To Take A Strong Stand To Those Who Harm Children

Brooklyn, NY – Following the death of Brooklyn 9-year-old Leibby Kletzty, Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), has renewed his call for passage of legislation that would make the intentional murder of a child under 12 years of age a first degree offense.

“As a former police officer, I have responded to many tragic crime scenes. However, no crime scene is as gut-wrenching as one that involves the murder of a child. Those are the kind of memories that nobody can ever forget. By passing this legislation, we would be sending a swift, severe and certain message to those who would prey on our children, while giving parents peace of mind that if something should happen to one of our young people,God forbid, law enforcement will have the tools to bring some measure of justice to the case,” said Senator Golden.

    S. 1990, introduced in January of this year by Senator Golden, makes the intentional murder of a child 12 years old and younger a first degree offense. The legislation also amends the definition of torture to the intentional and depraved infliction of extreme physical pain. Golden has asked that S. 1990 be a priority if a special session of the Legislature is called later this year. The bill. A. 6727, is sponsored in the State Assembly by Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney (R-C-I, New Hartford).

“New Yorkers awoke this morning to the horrible news of a barbaric murder of a young Brooklyn boy who was doing nothing more than walking home from summer day camp. This violence has no place on our streets and those who would commit such heinous crimes are a danger to all of society,” continued Senator Golden.

“This is the time for New York State to stand up for all children and families so that tragedies such as this never happen again. The children of New York State deserve every protection possible from the dangers our society, and now more than ever, a necessary law to have on the books. We need to act together . The Senate, Assembly and Governor to protect our most precious resource, our young people.”

Unfortunately, nothing would happen to these monsters that will only be put away and not put down as “criminally insane”

Senator I’ll support a bill which makes murder of a minor an automatic death penalty qualification. All the fancy talk about “first degree” that degree doesn’t make a difference unless you make death penalty possible again in NYS. Rewrite the death penalty law in NYS so that all parts of it are constitutionally sound! And let Levi Aron be tried under such a law.

Exactly, first degree or second degree, what’s the real difference? First degree is life without parole, second is 25 to life. No real difference there.

murder is already against the law. Golden, a professional politician, is taking advantage of everyone’s grief.

Good bill, however it will be better if we reimpose the death penalty. Rewrite the death penalty law in NYS so that all parts of it are constitutionally sound!
We applaude you for bringing this bill to the floor, but unfortuantly the Liberals in Albany will not allow this.

When legislation was proposed, which would have removed or lengthened the statute of limitations against those who harm children, the legislation was not passed.

Now is the time for the legislation to be reintroduced to eliminate the statute of limitations against those who have harmed children because right now, no legislator nor any ‘organization’ will have the guts to try and block this tougher legislation now.

Very good intentions on the part of Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn).
However, a civilized society (Not ‘Neanderthal America’) needs:
    ‘The 7 Noahide Laws.’
    N O W !
‘Were it not for the fear of the government people would swallow each other alive.’
    Pirke Avos.
It seems, tragically, horribly, this just happened.
    So, who REALLY loves children?
    Any responses?
    Too much silence.

    Interesting.
What we REALLY NEED is a massive demonstration by concerned New Yorkers demanding very tough laws be effected for many crimes, not just murder.
    Why?
The recidivism rate here, in ‘Neanderthal NY’, is 60%!
I can tell you of several serious crimes that occurred here in my neighborhood of Crown Heights against Jews and Afro-Americans.
If we sit quietly we’ll get what we deserve.
Who’s to say this type of horrific tragedy won’t happen again?
It probably will. Even with parental care and concern and instruction.
After all, the criminals have weapons, the authorities are protected, and/or have weapons, and you and I, the ‘suckers’ pay for this system.
If the ‘politicos’ don’t buckle, lets stop paying taxes, refuse to vote, etc. (We’ll get legal counsel.)
I’ve already approached my community council and am VERY involved in ‘The 7 Noahide Laws.’
    “No taxation without representation!”
(Vosizneias: you can expunge my name and/or email if you wish. boruch hoffinger…[email protected]….let’s work TOGETHER….NOW!)

It’s time for Yidden to no longer tolerate rabbis who protect these rapists.

    1. Keep voting for Dems folks, and you’ll keep getting judges and courts who are very soft on crime.
    2. Didn’t many of the folks here support that Grossman murderer down in FL last year?
