The teacher met the boys through the Scholarship Fund for the Advancement of Children in Israel, which he partly sponsors, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a statement. The program brings children from Israel to stay in the United States over the summers.

The teacher was arrested Tuesday by Teaneck and Bergen County investigators.

He remained held at the Bergen County Jail on $175,000 bail.

Prosecutor Molinelli stated that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Teaneck Police Department, the Israel Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their assistance and cooperation in this investigation. Prosecutor Molinelli further states that this investigation is ongoing to determine if any other children who had visited the United States from Israel and stayed with the teacher may have been a victim of sexual abuse.

I saw this man in shul when I visit there sometimes. He always davens with a special minyan they have for teenagers even though he is 63. I think also he is Israeli so he should be deported if he is guilty.

Notice how we don’t get a name published here. Still protecting someone?

VIN chose not to report his name , but once there is an arrest the name is public and it can easily be found elsewhere.

Two children, one staying in his home in 2009 and one in 2010 each reported the molestation upon returning home to Israel – SEPARATELY. These boys were not connected and each had their own experience 2 years apart. The Israeli police worked with Bergen County authorities to make the arrest. You may want to keep up the ole – innocent until proven guilty, but I do not need to wait until trial or conviction to have his name to protect my children from a potential threat who could be out on bail.

Ashrecha, VIN, for taking a very sensible approach in publishing this story in this manner. You balance the competing interests of your continuing duty to warn the Jewish public, with the sensibilities of some of your readers.

Why are we having SUCH problems with pedophilia in this world?! Is it that it’s ALWAYS been this bad & people just never noticed (and children weren’t really protected from it), until now?

Or is it seriously getting MUCH WORSE?! Because it seems to me, that ALL children everywhere are pretty much prey & that NO child is really ever “safe”!

And it feels almost like an epidemic! The #’s of reported cases are staggering! And if you’ll notice: most of the cases involve an adult male… with a male child! MOST of the time, this is the case! (Not saying women never get caught doing something horrible like this- but let’s keep it real. It’s mostly MALE abusers.)

So… is it because there’s no men in the world who have the merit anymore? I mean, how many of these people are RELIGIOUS & yet… they become predators as well?! Even when they KNOW there is a Creator to the Universe & they KNOW how sick all of this pedophilia is?!

They KNOW this stuff & yet they harm our children anyway?! Yes… they may be “sick”, but why are there such HIGH numbers of people doing this now?! And in the religious communities? (Christian ones too- I’m not leaving anybody out here. lol)

    It’s madness!

I would never leave my teen children in any strangers home, period.

Even one case is too much, but in the heimishe communities they know once they’re caught with pedophilia their life is over!
Obviously there are still pervs all over the world.
Why do we hear now more cases than used to be? Cuz of technology, online news sources, and the internet period that spreads each story like wild fire.

Although I agree that publishing his name may be inappropriate as charges are not proof of guilt, by publishing, it gives parents the opportunity to broach the subject with their children. This man was a professional at the school my children attended a number of years ago and no official has approached the school authorities to extend the investigation – I have received no phone call and my son was a guest in his home. Personally, the safety and health of my child and other children is more precious to me than this person’s name.

I know the man for many years. We should not be quick to judge him guilty. He has taken in many troubled, disadvantaged boys(some of them without parents) over the years. It is almost inevitable that one of these boys would make this type of accusation.

Please give him the chance to defend himself. He is innocent until proven guilty.

If we go back to our great great grand parent’s generations do you think they worried about discussing “feelings” and “corporal punishment” with their children and each other? There are people today on VIN who are deniers that abuse of all kinds crosses lines of religion, color, generations, wealth and education. Anger is anger, frustration explodes in many forms, strict upbringings need outlets to vent, long days at work take a toll. We often react without thinking, especially 40, 50, 80, 100 yrs ago.
