Negotiations with Israel on the terms of Palestinian statehood have been frozen since 2008. As an alternative, the Palestinians have decided to seek U.N. recognition of an independent “Palestine” in the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem, the areas Israel captured in the 1967 Mideast war.

China’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday that Wu Sike, its special envoy on the Middle East, told Palestinian leaders in a meeting in Ramallah that Beijing and the Chinese people have always supported the Palestinian cause.

On the Palestinians’ bid for statehood, the statement said Wu expressed understanding, respect and support.

And why shouldn’t they, while the western world is in the midst of a recession, they need to look elsewhere for business. They owe Israel nothing and they need to focus on their benefit

I also support Taiwan’s independence. I once has a chinese lady in one of my classes at college and she said do the Jews have their own country I said Israel. She said, “oh you mean renegade nation?” I was shocked but would like to have answer, China is red, rebel nation, oh yeah, chop chop.

Still not sure why statehood is do bad, instead of bombing the “occupied territory” we could just bomb another country if they attack us

I agree with #2 of course I am a yid and want the US to support Israel. But is it reaslly beneficial for the US to be so supportive of Israel? Would’nt thet gain more and make less enemies if they just didn’t get involved and abstained from voting in the UN about Israel as well as cutting monetary aid? The same goes with the whole MIdeast what are we doing in Lybia If anything we should of supported gadaffi in exchange for some good oil deals

Israel should release a statement saying that they will take China seriously the day they recognize Taiwan’s independence. Hypocrites.

China has said for years they would support a Palestinian state while still recognizing EY and doing business with EY (several billion dollars a year in trade). What the chiddush here?

This sounds scary but its really a political maneuver by the Chinese.

China is supporting the Palestinians for the same reason the Soviet Union voted for partition in 1947 – they want a foothold in the Middle East. The Soviets thought that Israel, which was founded on Socialist, atheistic principles would potentially be a Soviet puppet. China wants a Middle East presence to counter the United States’ presence in Israel and the Palestinians would be beholden to the Chinese for their support. To my knowledge, China has no history of belligerence to Jews or Israel – indeed, Mirrer Yeshiva thrived in China during the Holocaust.

Believe me, there are no emotional ties between the Chinese, who are either Christians, Buddhists or atheists and the Palestinians. Indeed, the Muslims would consider Chinese Christians to be “Crusaders”. Its all political maneuvering. Indeed, Iran should be concerned about this, because China is much more powerful than Iran and the Palestinians’ loyalty would not be to the mullahs.

The state of Israel should have made overtures to China a long time ago. Israel has the R and D and China has the cheap manpower – they are perfect partners at a time when the US is clearly on the wane thanks to cheap multiculturalism and lack of values. Jews and Chinese have much in common (except beliefs). This is a wake-up call. The world is changing and it is time for the state of Israel to tell America to but out of its affairs and for it to ally itself with the rising power and get away from the setting one.

This is historical maddness. OIL. this is what in their minds. This is a country with a terrible record of human rights abuse. They cut out internal organs from their prisoners without anesthesia and sell them for profit. Anyone who is agaist their regime in the most innocent matters they kidnap from other countries and kill. We do hear about it often but it is there.

So do not expect any moral values here. None.

China is the biggest threat to world peace. They are rearming themselves the way nazi Germany did prior to WW2. Taiwan is the Israel of the Orient.
