Arthur Grossman, 40, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Rockland County Court in New City to first-degree sexual abuse, officials at the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office said.

Grossman was arrested June 8, 2010, by Ramapo police, based on a complaint from Rockland Child Protective Services accusing him of improperly touching a child’s private parts over a period of several years. The child was younger than 8.

County Court Judge William A. Kelly ordered Grossman to serve 10 years’ probation following his release from jail, officials said.

He should see a doctor. Jail won’t heal him.

Nor will a doctor. Pedophilia is almost impossible to cure short of surgery

Therapies for pedophilia include group therapy (said to have at most a 55% “cure” rate) and “chemical castration,” i.e. giving medications to block testosterone (which some claim can result in a “cure” rate of about 90%).

The key issue, of course, is child safety (as is being emphasized by the Israeli rabbonim at a Yarchei Kallah on this very topic, being held this week in Jerusalem.

#3 asks an interesting question. Is it halachically permissible to castrate a sexual offender if it is shown to resolve their perversion? The Gemara in Bava Metzia (somewhere around Daf 90 if I remember correctly) says that even goyim are commanded not to castrate animals (I presume the same holds for people). But is this a different case? Are they halachically called a “rodef”, and would that permit castration? Would halacha prescribe that they remain in jail their whole life rather than castrate them?

This short sentence is a total disgrace. In Ramapo, shoplifters must spend more time in jail than this. The politicians will have him out within one month, I bet. Parents, please be careful of this man and don’t let him near your sons.

Pedophilia can never be healed. They continue to molest forever until they are jailed or die.

The bigger problem in my opinion is that we are afraid to name the “RODEF” because of loshon hora. Why didn’t we have a problem mentioning Aron Levy because of loshon hora. We have a right to protect our kids. If because of holding back the Rodef’s name a child got hurt, then, the who ever stood by quietly is oiver “LO SAMOD AL DAM RAYECHO”.

In any other location than Ramapo, he would serve a long jail sentence. There are two attorneys who represent these pedophiles and both attorneys have lost their NY license and then got it back. Shanda on us and shanda on them.

Only 6 months??? 10 year probation? it should be 10 years with no chance of parole and a lifetime of probation. What a boosha. People doing “minor” crimes get more of a sentence. Mamish disgusting

He needs to be neutered, just like they do to male animals that cant stop sexual behavior. there is no cure, and thats why we have so many adults now coming forward, victims of these so called ‘cured’ adults..

#6 The use of the term “cure” is not applicable to this behavior. It might be more informative & accurate to give statistics regarding lack of known subsequent events.

Um actually I know this man. He reported himself and obviously wanted help. 10 years down the line and be has been going to therapy non stop in attempt to help himself. He makes sure not to put himself in situations that he will even be tempted. Not condoning his actions because it’s horrible and unforgivable but he’s served his time…ppl probably should not comment on people they know nothing about just saying.
