The eruption of shootings from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday left the mayor livid and the parents of three wounded children distraught and angry.

Police said the two dozen victims were shot in 14 separate incidents in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. As of last night, no arrests had been made in any of the shootings.

“We cannot tolerate it,” Bloomberg said while speaking at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn. “There are just too many guns on the streets and we have to do something about it.”

New York has the toughest gun laws in the country, but Bloomberg said the city alone cannot stop the onslaught of shootings. “We need the federal government to step up,” he said.

“Both ends of Pennsylvania Ave., both sides of the aisle,” he said. “We cannot continue to have these guns in the hands of kids who don’t understand the value of life.”

Good morning mr. Mayor since when do you understand the value of life. Last time I checked our citys poverty, crime, debt, taxes, traffic, tolls, bike lanes, pot holes, accidents, fires, transportaition ,garbage&snow; removal delays are sky high.I couldn’t find 1 thing that could be said about you mr. Bloomberg that you did good for this city. Wallstreet and main street is in trouble where do you get in the picture? And guess what one thing I do admire you that if you would run for president, you would win on a landslide. Why? Because we americans don’t look at track records. We just follow the news media and the media is following your money, so go ahead mr,bloomberg and run for president of us of a.

    Uh huh.
Thieves, gang members, rapists, and druggies are upstanding law-abiding citizens of society and when Bloomberg (or Washington for that matter) impose stricter gun control laws those dregs will obey, no doubt. Right.

Perhaps this is due to the cuts to the NYPD and/or it’s time to implement death penalty.
Did you think of that, Mr. Mayor?

Mr. Bloomie- lets learn the facts before you start speaking.
****People who will commit a murder are already ok with breaking your laws. What will one more law do? So on top of a life-without parole- sentence (for the murder) they will serve an extra couple of years (for the ownership of the gun)??? uhh- hello?
****The stricter the gun laws, the more gun-related crimes are committed.
**** (reverse of previous statement)When the state permits individual people to own guns and the right to carry, crime ALWAYS goes down. There may be an initial surge of gun-related crimes and then the crime rate will sink much lower and will stay lower.
**** Proof- as been reported in multiple studies- criminals will not attack someone who may have a gun handy. Who knows if the intended victim can draw and shoot first?

Its blaming the pencil for the spelling mistake. Law abiding citizens are not the ones doing these shootings. They are hoodlums that need parenting.

“We cannot tolerate it,” Bloomberg said while speaking at the Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn. “There are just too many guns on the streets and we have to do something about it.”

The Mayor is speaking to audience that is made up of decent people who were in church on Sunday morning. These people are not the problem but could be part of the solution. There needs to be an awareness in the minority communities that the police can help but community support is needed. The constant objections to stop and frisk policies and the resentment of the police who are viewed by many as the enemy must stop! The teaching that the police are there to do a tough job must be spoken from every pulpit in those areas prone to such violence. NYPD must be viewed as the only real front line defence against such horrible violence.
I’m not sure if the law will allow for it but mabye the time is right to bring in extra support for NYPD by having armed National Guardsmen patrol the wild streets of NYC.
The violence must stop, this is a total breakdown of law and order. Those caught committing these acts must be punished severly without the usual liberal sob stories.

Non of the guns were legal. The liberal sickos want to disarm the responsible legal gun owners so that they can’t defend themselves against the criminal element. Crime went up 18 per cent since the gay marriage laws and the economy is going from bad to worse. Earthquakes and hurricanes are also there to remind NY who is really in charge. The hurricane costed a billion dollars in damage. Wake up fellow yidden.

The gun laws already on the books, don’t seem to help. There exists a deviant underclass in NYC, as well as elsewhere in the USA, whom life and respect for the property of others means, nothing. This underclass is not deterred by imprisonment, and in some cases, considers it a badge of honor. Politicians have ignored this problem for decades, and only pay lip service to this problem, at election time.

Mr. Bloomberg personifies the term “RINO” both for actually believing that “more laws” will solve the problem and for wanting to prevent gun ownership.

If New York just had concealed carry, one of these thugs would eventually come across an armed victim who would take out said thug. Instead, Bloomberg ensures that all of the victims are unarmed.

Of course, he doesn’t worry about it, because, like many other limousine liberals, he has his own cadre of armed security. So it’s OK for him, but not for the “little people”.

Huh? Nice blame game by Bloomy, Guliani managed to eliminate crime without running to the feds, and he took over a city that was one of the worst in crime.

Instead of taking the blame, and replacing those NYPD meter maids with real cops, he blames the feds.

Interesting, one cannot park illegal in the city without being punished, but 24 people were shot, and no arrests were made.

It’s so simple. Just have the police restart the stop and frisk on the street program. It worked before and it will work now. If the Mayor really believed something needs to be done, he would impliment it. But the Mayor won’t want to do this because the paperwork will reduce the number of tickets written by the cops.

Sorry but our mayor has no interest to stop crime because there is no revenue coming in to city hall from this. Maybe when he will change the law that he can give summons for such action then he will do something about this.

Making stronger gun laws for illegal guns doesn’t help it just makes it harder for upstanding normal citizens not being able to purchase a fire arm if they would like to . I have no record never been arrested don’t do drugs only drink on shabbos in moderation. I work go to college volunteer in a few orgs in my community. And if I would like I am not able to purchase a fire arm for protection yet the drug dealers and the lowlifes run around the city getting guns and killing innocent citizens and its us the citizens the mayor wants not to have guns. That makes lot of sense

So, rather than, er, facing up to the fact that crime is on the upswing, and, well, maybe, just DOING something about it, Bloomberg decides to blame Washington for NYC’s problem. Congressmen from Kentucky, Arizona and Wyoming – who don’t seem to have an epidemic of shooting going on in THEIR states – are supposed to surrender more freedoms, so Bloomberg doesn’t have to hire more police?

And, this is good for America … how?

So there he goes again–blaming everyone except his royal office. Sure there should be stronger gun controls, but just like liquor was banned and moonshine showed up, there always will be a way to purchase an illegal firearm. But Mr Mayor–your budget controls has hurt us more than our pocketbooks–after decades of safer streets, your cuts in the police department has now made it nearly impossible to take a walk even in daylight hours. Hasn’t history taught you that when people lose jobs and the economy worsens, crime rises. People don’t have money for important things like food and clothing and will stoop to lows to provide for their families and to smother their pent up feelings they will do drugs to forget about it. This is life in the inner city –check it out Mr Mayor–when was the last time you wandered the inner city streets to see what goes on there? Unfortunately I have to drive there to get from one place to another–and I say a fervent prayer when I need to go through. This day with all those shootings just really took the cake–maybe they will open your eyes and put more police officers back on the streets. Oh but at what a cost.
