In a letter addressed to the Jewish Community, Pindrus articulates why he is endorsing David Weprin for Congress calling him a dear friend and explains why the community should support Weprin, stating “I have always been amazed at how passionate David’s support has been for the residents of YESHA and Jerusalem and indeed the State of Israel.

“From my perspective David Weprin would be an advocate in the US Congress for a strong US–Israel relationship and will be a reliable friend who doesn’t need to be educated about the danger that Israel faces both on the front lines and when coming under pressure from the Obama Administration.”

Yitzchak Pindrus belongs to the Degel HaTorah party in Jerusalem and is part of the coalition formed by the current mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat.

Pindrus previously served as Mayor of Beitar Ellit.

It’s a dilemma. On every topic but one, Weprin has a solid track record. His “redefinition of marriage” vote is quite troubling. What is he thinking?
However, Bob Turner definitely troubles me, all around. He has no experience (not necessarily a bad thing), and did not want to get into the race. Also, he’s casting the election as if it’s against Obama.
That’s not necessary; Obama’s going to be gone in 2012 anyway. Someone’s doing something funny.
My fellow Jews, use your minds. Read the information and vote your *brains,* not your *marching orders.* Today’s Hamodia has interview with both candidates, by the way.
    Just DO VOTE.

With respect, the mayor should mind his own business. Werpin will help the president

Hahaha.. Turner was so excited to make the election about Israel, he seems to have forgotten who Israel’s real friend is.

On the one hand, who asked this foreigner to butt into our politics, but on the other hand, American Jews have a long history of engaging in Israeli politics so. I guess, turn-about is fair play.

These types of people are always sticking their noses into where it doesn’t belong. It makes me sick and ashamed to be a Jew. Weprin is not running for a seat in the Jerusalem or Betar City Council or Knesset, and Pindrus is not a Jewish personality in Brooklyn.

I love to see how israeli politicians, who can’t control their own country try to tell us what to do.
Let israel be an example for the US and then they can try to guide us. But as long as they come shnor from the US they should keep a low profile.

Unbelievable! he should mind his own business where he is! We are smart enough to know what is good good for us and don’t need any outsiders advise. Thank You.

It always amazes me that people will vote for someone because of one issue. You have to look at both candidates, research their pasts and then vote for the person who you believe will represent your wishes the best.

Let’s see, a politician in a European style Socialist leaning state endorsing a lib?? Where is the news in that?

Why in the heck is a foreigner doing this? Crazy? Is it for all the absentee NY’s in Israel. I assume so, but it stinks of dual loyalty issues.

We don’t need a candidate who supports isreal & voting for gay marriage the 2 things are against the torah, we need somebody to serve the local problems & help the residents from his district

    1 point and 1 question.
Point- The reason why American jews get involved with Israeli politics is because we all feel that Israel belongs to us as jews. I would imagine/ hope that jews of other nationalities are as involved with Israeli politics as Americans jews are. However the opposite cannot be said for Israeli’s attitude toward the USA or any other country. Israel is the home for ALL jews not just the jews that live there and therefore ALL jews have the right to get passionate about Israeli politics.
Question- It has been repeated ad nauseam that Werpin has done things for Israel. Can somebody please list some of the things he has done (besides visiting Israel on all expenses paid vacations) for the State of Israel? I’m not doubting his feelings toward Israel I just want to know what he has done and what he will do better then Turner in supporting Israel.

What’s the one issue that you are referring to? Do you mean the well being of the State of Israel and the message that we will be sending to Obama that there is a price for siding with the Arabs? Are you so callous as to not understand that the well being of the Jewish people in Israel is paramount to any other issue?
