REUTERS/Baz RatnerIsrael – Chaim Fogel, father of Udi Fogel who was murdered in Itamar in March, said Wednesday that he would agree to his son’s killers being returned to Gaza in exchange for the release of IDF soldier Gilad Schalit.

“If they tell me that in exchange for the release of the two murderers Gilad Schalit will return home, I would agree – despite my opposition in principle to such transactions,” Chaim told Army Radio.

“I don’t regret what I did, and would do it again,” Amjad Awad, who is awaiting his sentence, told reporters in May.

“I’m proud of what I did and I’ll accept any punishment I get, even death, because I did it all for Palestine.”

Tough call, of course we want Gilad back, but if we stay strong we stop future kidnappings, if we trade, then it’s open season, that being said, hashem yeracheim

“I did it for Palestine.” The operative word here is “Palistine” not Allah. Thanks to the Zionists. In his own words, his monstrous and unforgivable crime had nothing to do with the victims being Jewish – it was the Zionist issue. He wasn’t being politically correct if he would have done it in the name of religion he would have said so. Let’s not forget the Palestinians in general were a secular society before the Zionist with their policies helped swell the ranks of Hamas.

WOW – what tremendous ahavot yisrael. May Hashem reward Mr. Fogel for his kindness.

“He is not saying they should make the exchange, but that he would not oppose it”

How could you NOT oppose the release of someone who is sworn to return and murder again? What possible rationale could there be?? Is the life of one captured soldier worth the risk of c’v burying another family like the Fogles whose throats were slit while they slept? In this case, its not conjecture. The murderer has vowed to murder again and again as long as he lives, yet Fogel seems to feel it would be OK to release him.

I truly cannot believe some of the most insensitive and stupid remarks from some of you who are obviously frum… the intimation that this tragedy is because of the Zionist that many of you seem to hate is ridiculous if not chilul Hashem in itself.

Sabba Fogel’s behavior is far closer to HaShem’s wishes for our proper derech eretz than any of us here seem to be doing.

This is unfortunately what often happens: these fellows sit for a few years and then are sprung in an exchange. There is no real deterrence. In any event, this is not a decision for the father / grandfather to make.

THIS GUY IS A TRUE TZADIK. however doing so will only encourage others 5o dp the same and will send a message that there’s a price tag to a Jewish life.
We all know that the practice of hijacking American planes only stopped after the USA adopted a strong policy of not negotiating with terrorist no matter what the offer is.

I mean absolutely no disrespect for Mr. Fogel, but it is relatively easy to make such a statement when you know that there is no chance in the world that such a deal would ever be made. He is to be commended for his thought, but he know that it is just that – a thought.

My gosh, this man is really the way a person should be. He’s not making a political statement; he’s making a human statement. He doesn’t want Gilad Shalit’s parents to continute to have to go through the horror that both he and they are going through. This is a selfless thought.

Israel should have rescued Schalit a long time ago. They used to be know for going in rapidly after a hijack or kidnapping and taking care of business. Entebbe is one example. Yes we sadly lost a soldier (tzl) but it only solidified the fact that Israel would not tolerate these terrorist actions. Start blowing up lots of people and land and see how fast they come forward with Schalit.
