According to the indictment, the defendant, who cannot be named, molested the minors as they immersed themselves in a Bnei Brak mikva [ritual bath] and as they showered beforehand.

The defendant also forced the minors to perform sex acts against their will, the indictment alleges. The Tel Aviv District Attorney’s Office also served a request to remand the defendant for the duration of the proceedings.

According to that request, the defendant was arrested after a member of staff at the mikva noticed he had come to the mikva just before one of the minors. The witness informed a volunteer in a local Haredi organization, who held the defendant at the mikva until the police arrived.

I have another question “Why can’t he be named????????”. He is a Bnei Brak man that gets his kicks molesting young boys. Do ya think these Bnai Brak mishpochas are reading VIN or other papers to get a warning about not allowing their minors to go alone? How about not allowing any kids to go near him or his home? Who said they would be safe even outside the mikveh? Is there anywhere in this report that the request to keep him in jail was approved?

The fact that this kind of molestation takes place is nothing new.

The real news is that someone charedi, finally had the guts to hold him and hand him over to secular authorities, to finally but a stop to it.

Much more of the same needs to be done in many other places much closer to home too.

To #1 : It is straight out in “Shulchan Orech” that a father is not allowed to go to the Mikvah with his son. This is due to “Tznius” reasons and not due to “Kibud Av”, therefore it is not something a father can be “mochel” on his “kavod”.

Hang this guy. Then will someone explain why minors are ever in a mikvah alone?

We must not allow any rachmanus for someone who hurts our children this way. I do not want others to start saying “Oh, I know him, he is such a gadol, an illui, a charedi… he would never do that” like with all other criminals. Come on- if he is guilty he must be punished!!!

Tisha kabin is also metaher (for men).

Perhaps mikvah should be reserved for married men.

Does anyone not agree that sexually molesting a child in a mikvah is (or should be) assur without any “mitigating circumstances”. If so, what are the authorities in BB not releasing his name?

No one questions the Issur here.

However the perpetrator may also be a minor ( under 18) or mentally disturbed. Maybe that’s why his name was not released yet.

    Awful.

A kid under the age of 18 should not go to the mikveh alone.

To all the chachmei Chelm who have no understanding of what this is all about:
Minors does not mean little kids who can not take care of themselves, it means under 18 in other words not adults, a 15 year old does not need to be taken by the hand to a mikveh or to the dr. etc. so stop blaming parents
The Perpetrator’s name can not be mentioned because he has not been formally charged. When someone is arrested, the police must have a case against the person and then they recommend an indictment and the perp is brought to court and either indicted or dismissed. At that point his name can be mentioned. This is how the legal system works. There must be witnesses, and evidence. you don’t go hanging every person who gets arrested.
And it is not just kids who get molested, adults can get molested too, and it is not only in Mikvaot, remember the kids who got molested in the Belzer Shtible basement in Boro Park? So you chachomim who are blaming the parents perhaps think that you should confine your kids to the house and keep them under 24 hour surveilance? And lets not forget the MINORS who have been molested in Yeshiva dormitories, that happens too.
