We are asking for your participation in the process by nominating someone you believe is deserving of this honor. To qualify, the women must live in Brooklyn and be at least 18 years of age.

There are many outstanding women throughout Brooklyn who are very active in the community. They are selfless, always willing to help others, and they have a profound impact on those around them. Previous honorees have been drawn from all walks of life. They are community leaders, active in their churches, social workers, teachers, business owners, mothers and grandmothers. We are looking for women who have a remarkable record of service.

In March 2012, DA Hynes will induct a new class of thirty-one women and bestow the title of Special Ambassador to each of the women in their communities.

Since 2007, DA Hynes has given tribute to Women’s History Month by recognizing Brooklyn women who have made a difference in their community and in the lives of others.

A special committee composed of staff from the Kings County District Attorney’s office and prior honorees will select next year’s Extraordinary Women.

The deadline for nominations is January 17th. You can nominate the women online here, or by sending their name, contact information, and biography in an email, fax, or letter to:

35 Jay Street, 19th Floor Brooklyn, New York 11201

    “nominations for Brooklyn’s Extraordinary Women”?

When are “nominations for Brooklyn’s Extraordinary Men” opening up? How about the extraordinary dog walkers? Tree huggers? Lawn cleaners?

And what does any of this have to do with the primary function of a District Attorney anyway? Or is he just trying to out-Marty Marty? (With our tax money, of course).
