Yitzchak ShuchatBrooklyn, NY – Three weeks after an Israeli court approved a request by Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes to extradite a former Crown Heights resident to the United States in order to face bias charges in a 2008 attack, the Israeli supreme court has granted an appeal and will delay the extradition until July 2012, VIN News has learned..

Yitzchak Shuchat, now a resident of Tel Aviv, was scheduled to be extradited to the United States on December 16th, but his appeal to fight the extradition was granted by the Israeli supreme court. Shuchat, who had been in jail during the appeals process, is now under house arrest while the court considers the case further.

The bias charges were brought against Shuchat, a member of the Shmira crime patrol, following the April 2008 beating of a black man, Andrew Charles, as reported earlier on VIN News. Both Shuchat and Charles, the son of an NYPD officer, had stated publicly that the incident was not racially motivated.

“We believe this to be a small miracle,” Levi Freundlich, Vice President of the Jewish Leadership Council, told VIN News. “It is well known that the Israeli government typically shies away from getting involved and denying extradition but it is obvious that there are holes in this case that the court would like to look into before making a final decision.”

I don’t get it, if Charles himself said that it wasn’t “racially motivated”, what’s the issue here? Anyone?

This is the reason US Courts are reluctant to allow bail for Jew’s….
The fear the person will run off to Israel. This has to stop……
You commit a crime in the US…. Israel or any other county should not
    be a safe haven.
I bet that come July 2012…. nothing will happen…. at most another delay.

Yitzy Schochat was involved with Smera trying to apreahend Charles who assaulted a jewish girl. Charles acomplice was arrested for that and for later kidnapping a black girl and raping her. Yitzy is literaly a hero who daily put himself at risk for the benifit of the Comunity. We owe him. DA wants to use him to show they are even handed. See the above baner advertizment.

Andrew Charles stated very clearly that this is not a racial matter.

Sorry my last comment was a bit confusing.

B”H that the Israeli court did the right thing in this case, I hope that in the next 6 months things change for the better, and this story comes to a happy ending.

why inst this considered hate crime? This just happened an hour ago:
At around 7:00 PM tonight Shomrim dispatchers received a frantic call from a Bochur who was being harassed and intimidated by a stranger who would not let him continue on his way and was threatening to assault him.

The incident occurred on New York Ave. between President and Carroll St.

Shomrim volunteers arrived at the scene shortly thereafter, and held the perp (pictured above) until the NYPD arrived. Since the Bochur was not physically hit, the NYPD could not take the man into custody, but instead gave him a stern warning.

A member of Shomrim told Crownheights.info that he received a call a few days ago from a man who’s wife was inappropriately touched by a stranger on the very same corner. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived at the scene the man was gone.

jew are not beaten daily in ch – thats all a bunch of hogwash – this neighborhood is reletively quiet and has the “usual” events like any other hood.
Like someone mentiioned if there was trouble you’d hear about it on these sites.
71st Pct works well with both groups – unfortunately they are at each others throats.

The only side I can reasonably side with is Shomrim as they are mostly normal non-yellow flag carriers unlike shmira which is mostly meschists and whatever regardless most wish they would just get along.
