Starting around Feb. 1, bidders will be able to visit the website of a Utah-based company called Public Surplus to shop for New York City’s used property.
The auction will be a pilot project. If the sales succeed, the city will seek bids from companies interested in setting up a permanent auction program.
Department of Citywide Administrative Services spokeswoman Julianne Cho told the New York Post (http://nyp.st/t47q4g ) that the auction will be an innovative way for the city to raise money.
Public Surplus’ site carries hundreds of used and surplus items from governments across the country.
Just what we want used furniture with bed bugs and parking meters touched by thousands of dirty hands.
Hmmm…
Thinking of buying a parking meter to put at my driveway… LoL…
If you want to ensure sufficient parking in front of your home, why not install two or three parking meters? Even if you don’t get the spot, at least you’ll get a fistful of quarters.
