Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney (L) speaks to gathered supporters while standing with his wife Ann (R) after winning the New Hampshire primary at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA, on 10 January 2012. EPA/JUSTIN LANEConcord, NH - Minutes after the polls closed Tuesday night, Mitt Romney took to the stage as projections gave him a decisive victory in the first-in-the-nation Republican presidential primary.
The former governor of Massachusetts spent most of his energized speech attacking US President Barack Obama as a “failed” leader and outlining the ways in which he would lead the country in a new direction, including in the international arena.

“He criticizes our friends like Israel. I will always stand with our friends,” Romney declared to loud applause, his only reference to a foreign country.
He began his victory speech by shouting to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters that “Tonight we made history!”

We need leaders who put the interests of America first, second and third, and not those of any foreign state.

Romney stands with unchanging futures. He works for money that he does not own and he likes to snowball his own future with personality of lapsed reason.

Where in the speech did he say he would put Israel's interests first? He said he'd stand by friends. Nothing wrong with that.

It is in the interest of America to have friends like Israel in the middle east. Dependable smart....
No one can survive without friends and Israel serves our needs in a big time way.

Who said anything about "putting interests" anywhere? Friends stand by friends, in good times and in hard times.

The interests of the US and Israel invariably coincide, as do the interests of most democracies.

By standing with Israel, he's not placing Israel 1st.

Even the most crass disciple of RealPolitik knows that it is better to have friends than to be alone. Any honest evaluation of the strategic situation in the Middle East over the last 150 years would clearly understand that our support of Israel clearly benefits us.
And don't get me started about Hashem's promise to Abraham...

Thank you! I couldn't agree more!
There is nothing wrong however, with saying that you "stand by" another friendly country however. Israel IS a friend to America & vice\versa, and that's a good thing! And despite what a lot of people say... Obama is JUST as much a friend to Israel as his predecessors before him, as well as Mitt Romney, or any of the GOP Presidential candidates up on the current stage.
That's why I always have to laugh when they make a HUGE point to talk about Israel... like nobody else "loves" it as much as they do! (lol) It's like, get a grip already! We get it! All their talk of Obama "throwing Israel under the bus", is NEVER matched with any sort of concrete proof of him doing any such thing! Only the opposite!
So whenever I see a headline about Romney, et. al. talking about how much they love Israel... it really doesn't seem like such a big deal as they are trying to make it out to be.
It's like, ok you love Israel... we know.
And...???

George Washington warned again foreign alliances and the State of Israel has never signed any treaties with the United States. Why should America assume the agenda of the Tsionim? Why do politicians have to be loyal to the medinah??

Normally I like your posts. But Obama demanding Israel withdraw to the '67 lines as the beginning of talks falls right into the Palestinian Phased Plan, which calls for getting International pressure to get Israel to withdraw from Judea and Samaria from which territory it is basically indefensible. Yes Israel had these borders till 1967, however the military situation of 1967 was entirely different then it is today. For starters the Arab weapons stockpile has grown four fold, second, Israel cannot repeat the six-day war pre-emptive strike that took out Egypt’s air force in one day – because since 1968Eygept keeps their planes in bunkers, and third there wasn’t the threat of the period of small range rockets which will make all planes in Israel, civilian and military, vulnerable to attack. Ben-Gurion is 2 miles from the West Bank. In short Obama has put Israel in a bad negotiating position. Thank G-d Netanyahu understands the risks of giving up the Samarian high ground and will not give up vital the mountain ridges/Jordan Valley in any conceivable concession.

He also didn't mention the Islamic Brotherhood, Darfur, and a thousand other foreign policy issues.
It was a victory speech, a pep talk for his followers, not a detailed policy paper.
Amazing how there is always someone around complaining instead of praising.

President Obama never 'demanded' that Israel return to the pre-1967 borders.
He, like GW Bush, WJ Clinton and GHW Bush called for land swaps along the green line to accommodate facts on the ground.
President Obama supports Israel's right to security and safety. He does not support the Likud position on settlements.
Neither do most Israelis.
President Obama does not trust Bibi. Neither do most Israelis.
President Obama is against Palestinian statehood prior to a comprehensive settlement between the parties. Neither do most Israelis.
President Obama is dead-set against Iran producing nuclear weapons. So are most Israelis.
President Obama believes in a two state solution. So do most Israelis.
President Obama believes Israel is better off without millions of stateless Arabs under Israel's rule. So do most Israelis.
I for one am much more worried about the party of Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan, Yehuda Levin, James Baker, Casper Weinberger among other anti-Semites.

This is not what Obama said - this is what the right-wing blogosphere LIED about what he said in an attempt to sway Jewish voters. Obama has the same Israel policies as Bush. Please do some fact-checking before posting.

If you read what I wrote Obama says that the ’67 lines are the basis of negotiation ‘with some land swaps’. But the starting position of the negotiation is the ’67 lines. Just mentioning these lines as the basis of negotiation puts Israel at huge disadvantage. Negotiation is conducted best when both sides don’t have pre-emptive positions undercut by the supposed ‘neutral broker’. Ironically, the pressure on Israel backfired on Obama as the insistence that Israel freeze construction as a precondition, and negotiations should start with the ’67 lines as the starting position has made negotiation almost impossible.
Personally, the fact that negotiations stalled is a good thing, because anyone who is honest and can read Palestinian media knows that any state the Palestinians establish will be used as the launch pad of the Phase 2 of the resistance. Just as prescribed in the PLO ‘Phased Plan’. It is criminal to ignore the Palestinian true intentions, intentions made abundantly clear in the Palestinian Arabic media.

Just as Pakistan did. Just like Egypt did. Just like Lebanon (in the early 1960s) did. I hate to break it to you Harry, but Israel has been the United States only reliable ally in that part of the world. As to number 15....you misunderstand the issue. |If you weren't Jewish it would be easy to say you think like an anti-semite. The United States doesn't assume the agenda of Zionism. The United States has found common interest with the state of Israel.

Bush, Carter, and Bush Sr. all called for borders based on the pre-1967 borders. Get over it.
President Obama has been a disaster in some ways but he's been great for Israel. He prevented UN recognition on Palestinian statehood, shipped bunker buster bombs to Israel, has supported close military and intelligence cooperation between us and Israel and has steadily increased the pressure on the world community to prevent Iranian nuclear weapon capability. That's why while you NY ladergayers are busy bashing the president the Israelis are singing his praises. Get over that too.
He opposes Likud settlement policy. So do most Israeli. He mistrusts Bibi. So do most Israelis.

You did not address the fact that the Palestinians do not want to settle for the West Bank. They believe all of Israel is ‘occupied territory’. They say so very clearly almost every day- in Arabic. The Two state solution is based on the lie that Palestinians are ready to live in peace once they get the West Bank. Unfortunately that is not their intention.
If the Pals sincerely wanted peace and said so in Arabic there might be what to talk about. Then the risk of leaving Israel 10 miles wide might be worth the risk. But they do not want peace. They want to destroy Israel. Just read what they tell their people in Arabic.
Therefore the entire ‘peace process’ is based on a lie.

Why are you trying to change the subject?
The topic is President Obama's relationship with Israel, particularly in comparison to the relationship of recent presidents with Israel.
The foolishness of the very premise of continuing a peace process with cold blooded, blood thirsty murderers of women and children who sign peace treaties in English and the next day disavow them to their followers in Arabic is a whole other matter, but it wasn't Obama who started this nonsense.
On the other hand, instead of telling the world Israel won't lift a finger for a peace deal until the Arabs start preparing their masses for the inevitability of a peace deal if they want a PLO state next to Israel, Bibi plays games with American officials.
The worst one can truthfully say regarding Obama's attitude and treatment of Israel is that he does toe the Likud party line.
Neither do the majority of Israelis. Get over it.
