As a combat veteran and Chareidi your statment was a bit insensitive...at least the yunger Yid was nifter answering a calling beyond a threshold most self absorbed people caught up in technicalities and disproving everyone never seem to understand.

America is fighting a war, terrorist, al quida etc- remember that thing, what was it? Oh yea, 9-11. I think jews were killed as well. By defending america you are defending the jews who live here as well as the freedom you enjoy in your precious "villiamsburg".
Not gonna say this guy is some sort of saint, but a jew putting his life on the line for our host country may not be a chiyuv but certainly it is commendable and some sort of kiddush hashem.
Showing the nations that we are good for more then just tax fraud and ponzi schemes you know....

Its truly a sad day whenever we lose one of our boys that go over there and fight these sub human vermin terrorists. and to any Jew out there that thinks this kid died in vein and it might somehow be against halacha...go get your head examined and after that you need to perform a true cheshbon hanefesh because that just proves that you have no clue what it means to be a true yiras shamaiym and oivad hashem. Where is your ahavas yisroel ? this young kid along with his brothers in arm (regardless of their religious status) went over to fight those bastards SO THAT WE CAN REMAIN FREE.
Show some respect, a bit of gratitude. You should try it sometime it might actually do you some good.

I agree 100% with numbers 6 & 7. #5's statement was not only insensitive, during the period of Shiva, but was inaccurate and way off base. At a time of increased anti-semitism, there are always Jew haters who claim that Jews have never fought for their country. Hence, this brave Airman, in his own way, refuted those false claims.
