A visitor in the plaza on the southern side of the Western Wall of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, 06 September 2012, where large rocks are piled from when the Old City walls were demolished centuries ago. Archaeologists have discovered a large water reservoir (under the pile of rocks) along the bedrock of the Western Wall that they say is from the First Temple Period (ca 1000 BCE) and held some 250 cubic meters of water and was used by the general population of Jerusalem, accessing the water through a hole in the plaza floor (also under the pile of rocks).
