An undated handout picture released by the Pakistani military Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on 12 April 2012 shows Pakistan Army soldiers seaching for the bodies at the scene where an avalanche burried more than 100 Pakistani soldiers in Siachen, Pakistan, considered to be one of the world’s highest battlefields. Hundreds of rescue workers were striving round-the-clock despite bad weather to find soldiers and civilians buried under an avalanche in Pakistan’s Siachen, the army said on 10 April. At least 124 soldiers from the Northern Light Infantry trained in high-altitude warfare and 11 civilians were entombed on 07 April near the Siachen Glacier, which is claimed by both Pakistan and India. Major General Athar Abbas said 452 people, including 69 civilians, were deployed in the rescue effort, which was using earth-moving equipment and dump trucks to remove snow and boulders from the site.
