THAILAND POLITICS PROTEST

Thai riot polices threw tear gas at anti-government Pitak Siam protesters as they were trying to march to the rally site at Makkawan bridge near the Government House in Bangkok, Thailand, 24 November 2012. A mass demonstration was planned on 24 November by the Pitak Siam (Protest Siam) movement by leader retired General Boonlert Kaewprasit, who says the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is corrupt and a puppet of her brother, fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The protests which hopes to rally more than 50,000 protesters under The Internal Security Act at the Royal Plaza, near the Government House and the parliament buildings. Thai government imposed emergency measures on parts of three districts in the capital, including the old town centre and the location of many government buildings, until 30 November 2012, increasing the powers of security forces of planned anti-government protests. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung said.
