Descendants of victims of the Titanic disaster cast roses into the dock in Southampton, southern England, 10 April 2012, from where the ill-fated White Star liner set sail on her maiden voyage 100 years ago today. Reports state that a minute’s silence was observed in the city, which had been home to more than 500 of the crew who perished in the disaster.
