Defense Secretary meets Egypt’s new leader

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi (R) meets with US Secretary of Defence Leon Panetta (C) in the presence of Head of military council Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi (L) at the presidential palace, in Cairo, Egypt, 31 July 2012. Panetta arrived in Cairo on 31 July for a short visit during which he will meet President Mohammed Morsi and Defence Minister Hussein Tantawi. Panetta’s visit comes around two weeks after Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton expressed US support to Egypt’s democratic transition and economic development, during meetings in Cairo.
