Major snowstorm targets Denver area

Snow is pounding Denver and northeastern Colorado this morning, with winds whipping up to 40 mph on the plains. The anticipated winter storm has brought blizzard conditions to a widespread area, shutting down schools, government and businesses. Drivers and travelers should be prepared for winter conditions, which can be dangerous. Boulder has received 12 inches of snow as of 6 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
