Brazil - At least 50 people were killed in floods in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, local officials said Tuesday.
The floods, caused by heavy rains starting from Monday night, have paralyzed the traffic in the state capital of Rio de Janeiro.

New York - A brave California father didn’t think twice before diving into the frigid East River after his 2-year-old daughter plunged 20 feet from Peking ship at the South Street Seaport on Saturday April 3 2010.
The girl was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in good condition and released a few hours later.
