Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and her husband and former astronaut, Mark Kelly take to the podium as they made a appearance at the Safeway supermarket parking lot where she was gunned down in the January 2011 shooting rampage,  as she met with constituents in a ‘Congressman on your Corner’ event, in Tucson, Arizona, USA, 06 March 2013.  Six people were killed in the shooting that left the Congresswoman wounded in the head. They are encouraging congressional lawmakers to support expanded background checks for gun purchases that is being discussed in Washington Senate hearing today. Giffords, who was wounded in a shooting on 08 January, 2011, amped up her push for more gun control after the December 2012 Sandy Hook shooting.
