Several dead in Cairo as protesters are attacked

Egyptian anti-military protesters carry an injured comrade during clashes with attackers at Abbassiya square, Cairo, Egypt, 02 May 2012. Media reports quoting medical sources state that at least nine people were killed in clashes between anti-military protesters and unknown attackers near the Defence Ministry in Cairo. Dozens of people were also injured in the clashes, which erupted when the assailants, whom the opposition called pro-government thugs, cracked down on the protesters.
