Bomb kills 1 student, wounds 7 in Italy

Location: BRINDISI, Italy
May 19, 2012

Onlookers stand in front of the ‘Morvillo-Falcone’ school where a bomb exploded in Brindisi, southern Italy, 19 May 2012. Two 16-year-old girls were killed and seven other students injured on 19 May, local media reported, when two bombs went off outside a fashion school in the southern Italian city of Brindisi. Brindisi’s Mayor, Mimmo Consales, blamed the attack on the Morvillo Falcone institute on the mafia. ‘It’s an unprecedented attack by organized crime,’ he told the television station TeleNorba. The bombs exploded at 7.45 am (0545 GMT) as students, mostly female, were arriving for classes.
