Israel police clash with Palestinians at holy site

Israeli riot police shoot tear gas and throw stun grenades as they attack a group of Palestinians near the Dome of the Rock (CL) following noon prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque on Hareem el-Sharif, or the Temple Mount, in Jerusalem’s Old City, 24 February 2012. Israeli police said Palestinians began pelting the police with rocks at the end of prayers as tensions have been high all week due to Jewish settlers touring the area near al-Aqsa Mosque several times. Police report 11 police and 15 Palestinians were injured in the clashes which lasted over an hour.
