A coalition of media outlets including The Associated Press sent a letter to the NYPD on Wednesday. It asks for an update on whether any training on press relations has been given to officers.
It also asks whether there have been disciplinary actions for any officers involved in incidents where journalists say they were prevented from doing their jobs.
Media outlets also sent the NYPD a letter on access issues in November. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly later told NYPD officers they could be disciplined if they interfered with media access. There have been complaints of other incidents since then.
There was no immediate response from the NYPD.
