    Rockland County, Nyack, NY +Tappan Zee Bridge Traffic Alert+ A motor vehicle accident involving multiple vehicles with one box truck carrying watermelons on fire on the southbounÐ lanes of the Tappan Zee Bridge is causing major traffic delays, Fire Department is on the scene taking out two lanes for vehicle that's fully involved.

    PD have the entire bridge on both directions shut down at this time with numerous agencies on the scene, Marine boat fighting the fire from below the bridge.

    Comand requesting additional boats for a search do to the missing driver of the tractor trailer and some debris found in the water, doing a grid search of the water under the bridge.

    Fire is knocked down from a heavy water supply from the boat. PD setting up light towers and New York State Police A.I. Team requested.
    This will be a prolonged operation, avoid the area.

    One confirmed killed and three are injured. Bridge still closed at this time in both directions.

    +Traffic Alert+ The Tappan Zee Bridge / I-87, remains closed in both directions between Exits 9 & 10, including the bridge.

    All lanes have been reopened on the bridge after the fatal accident closed the span for over nine hours.

    They opened the bridge around 4:45 AM this morning. Was anyone reading VIN stuck there? If so, can you tell us the ordeal you went through?

    just saw on channel 4 news- they “hope’ to have the bridge open for the morning rush, but they need to check for structual damage.
