Washington – An article that appears in the current issue of Mishpacha Magazine profiling the position of Jewish liaison to the President of the United States, Jarrod Bernstein, the current director of Jewish outreach for the Obama administration admits to being an avid reader of Vos Iz Neias.

Bernstein, who was born on Long Island and previously held the position of deputy commissioner in New York City’s Offices of Federal and Community Affairs, keeps close watch on the Jewish community by following the Washington Jewish Week, the JTA news service and translations of Der Yid and Der Blatt.

“Vos Iz Neias is also one of my favorites,” Bernstein told journalist Binyomin Rose. “As a New York guy I try to take in and synthesize as much information as possible.”

The first person who is believed to have ever held the position of Jewish liaison was Myer “Mike” Feldman, who worked for President Kennedy. Since then virtually every president has had someone on staff to interface with the Jewish community with the exception of Presidents Nixon and Ford, although Mark Siegel, Jimmy Carter’s Jewish liaison resigned his position to express disappointment with Carter’s Middle East policies.

Bernstein is the third person to hold the position of Jewish liaison in the Obama administration. Both Susan Sher and Danielle Borrin previously held the position before moving on to other jobs within the Obama administration.

VIN is a very influential voice of the Jewish community. As such, let the President know that many of us are puzzled by his silence over the injust persecution of Shalom Rubashkin who is languishing in jail after a raid that the govt itself said was unjust and unlawful.
Thank you. Keep up your good work.

Jarrod, if you’re reading this: Rubashkin is a single, unifying issue for all Orthodox Jews. If your boss wants us to take him seriously, let him consider the appeal of more than fifty congresspeople.

    Thank you.

Jarrod is a great guy, and, FYI, when he worked with Bloomberg, spent many years working with the Yidden in Williamsburg.

As an unapologetic supporter of the current Administration and a fan of Jarrod Bernstein I can personally attest to Mr. Bernstein’s interest, concern, and understanding of the issues that are important to the frum community. The President is to be commended for his appointment of Mr. Bernstein and his predecessors. Regarding the specific issues cited above, Mr. Bernstein and the President are aware of the issues and their importance to our community.

when you spell lose wrong ( loose ) you are just showing your ignorance and the best proof of why our yeshiva system needs to spend more time teaching our kids english and math.
I have no doubt Mr. Bernstein knows how to spell.
